Signs You Are Ready to Move Forward with Your Invention Idea

Tags: idea forward

There comes a time in every inventor’s life when they make the decision to move Forward with an invention Idea. Often times, innovators and inventors will sit on an idea for awhile before taking action. You may be wondering when a good time is to begin the process of developing your idea. The truth is, every new product or invention idea is different, but there are a few telltale signs that you are ready to begin!

You frequently wish you had your invention idea to improve your life

Invention ideas have been known to spawn from everyday needs of their inventors. For example, the inventor of the slanket came up with the idea in 1997 when he was too cold to remove his hands from underneath his blanket, yet wished to change the channel on his television. In 2008, the Snuggie went to market to sell 20 million units in the next year.

Inspiration from everyday life can be common. If you find yourself frequently wishing you had your idea in your daily life, then it could be time to move forward with your invention. If your invention improves your own cooking or cleaning, there is a possibility that someone else in the world struggles with the same problem, but simply does not have the idea to fix it. The next time you think your idea could help you, remember there is a chance it could also help others.

You have thought about your idea for years

Thinking about your invention idea for years is another sign that you are ready to move forward with your invention idea. Many inventors will sit on an idea and wait for the right time to make a move. The truth is, years of waiting could mean a missed opportunity. Your invention idea still being on your mind could mean there is still a need for a product or idea such as yours.

You have had years to dream of the potential for your invention, which also means you have had time to improve upon that idea. At this point, you have decided what will work for your invention, and what may not be best as far as features, function and more. The longer your idea stays on your mind, the more you should consider moving forward.

You find yourself asking why not?

In life, there are many times we are held back by certain aspects we cannot control. For some lucky inventors, the question of “why not move forward with my invention?” does not have a reasonable answer. If you find yourself frequently pondering “why not?” then it may be time to begin. In some cases, family and friends may also be the ones to encourage you by asking “why not?” Motivation in the early stages of invention development can be crucial to gaining the courage to begin.

If you continue to ask yourself “Why not?” then maybe it is time to move forward. Even if you find yourself making excuses, take time to determine whether or not those excuses are truly what is holding you back, or if your own fears are subconsciously keeping you from taking action with your invention idea.

You have done your research

If you have sat on an idea long enough, the odds are likely that you have done some research on where to begin. Maybe you have searched the web for information on patents or prototypes. Maybe you have even searched for a company, such as InventHelp, to help you kick off your journey with your invention idea.
