When you become a Parent you quickly learn that your little one has a whole repertoire of cries, shrieks, sobs, and wails. That’s how babies express themselves. 

But when the crying just doesn’t stop, it’s difficult to determine the root of the problem and whether or not it necessitates a trip to the Doctor, especially when panic has set in and you can’t think straight.

Help is at hand with The Lullaby Trust Baby Check, a free new app developed in partnership between Birmingham Community Healthcare and The Lullaby Trust designed to help Parents Decide whether their baby needs to see a doctor.

“Baby Check contains 19 simple checks which test for different symptoms or signs of illness.” […&91;

The app is very simple to use: “parents will be taken through a series of checks, including yes or no and multiple choice questions, relating to their baby’s health.” […&91; “On completion, the parent will be given a score: the higher the score the sicker the baby is likely to be” and needs to see a doctor.” […&91;

The app is backed by four years of research which “analysed the signs and symptoms of illness in over 1,000 babies under six months of age. […&91;

The research was undertaken in the Dept. Paediatrics, University of Cambridge; MRC Dunn Nutrition Laboratory, Cambridge; Dept. of General Paediatrics, Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne Australia.

It's important to note that the app does not replace medical advice given by a trained professional, however, it does help parents decide whether or not their baby needs to see a doctor, and perhaps limit some of the anxiety...
