Start Planning a Couple's Getaway to London

Family vacations are always fun, but there's something to be said for leaving the kids behind too. There are several benefits to going away on a couple's trip, and sending the kids to stay with someone else. Firstly, you and your partner get extended time together, without the children. Everyone needs that sometimes. The kids can go and have a fun time somewhere too. They could go to their grandparents' house, summer camp, or a friend's home. Since it's only the two of you, your vacation will be cheaper, which makes a long-haul trip more affordable. So here's how you can plan the perfect couple's trip to London.

Find Accommodation

When you're traveling as a couple, you don't have to worry about accommodating the kids. You don't need to think about extra beds or rooms for them to sleep in. All you need is the one room, which makes your hotel cheaper. Or it means you can splash out a bit more, which is good because London hotels can be a little pricey. If you've got the cash, you can find some gorgeous luxury hotels, from famous ones like The Savoy to little boutiques. However, there are budget options too. If you would rather have something more private, look at London vacation rentals instead. You can get a studio or one-bed apartment so you can cook and come and go as you please.

Plan Romantic Meals Out

There's no need to look for children's menus when it's just the two of you. You can eat where and when you like, and London has so many options. Perhaps you want to try out some Michelin-starred restaurants, like the one at The Dorchester, which has three (the most it can have). But maybe you would rather browse the curry houses on Brick Lane or go looking for street food. Don't miss out on having a romantic afternoon tea. This traditional meal between lunch and dinner features finger sandwiches, scones, and cakes. Of course, there's tea, and you can also have a glass of champagne too.

Romantic Excursions

London can be a romantic city, especially because of all its history. There are so many ways to explore and see different things. You could take a ride on the London Eye to get a bird's-eye view, or go a step further and book a helicopter tour. See some of the historical landmarks, from the Tower of London to St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. And, of course, there are sights such as Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street.

Enjoy the London Nightlife

No one needs to be put to bed or kept out of certain establishments when there are only adults on the trip. You can find lots of different scenes in London's pubs, bars, and clubs. Listen to some live music, watch a comedy night, or just sit down for a drink. For some entertainment, see a show, from a musical to the opera. If you visit in the summer, London's rooftop bars are pleasant places to spend the evening.

Don't feel guilty about leaving the kids behind. They'll have fun without you, and you can return to London as a family another time.
