BUDGET BEAUTY SERIES: Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks – Review, Photos & Swatches

Hi loves! Today, we continue our Budget Beauty Series and we’ll start off with a cult favorite, which happens to be my current favorite as well, the Maybelline Creamy Mattes. I know, I know spoiler alert, but let me break it down to you and tell you why I love this stuff.

Why You’ll Love It

The Creamy Mattes by Color Sensational® deliver a burst of bold color and a surge of creamy texture for the creamiest matte in 20 make-a-statement shades

Maybelline Creamy Mattes’ packaging is very similar to the other Lipsticks from the brand’s Color Sensational line. Only, this one has more of a frosted brown cap. Locally, we have 10 shades available ranging from nudes, to pinks, reds to even bright shades. I don’t think we have the same shades that Maybelline US carries, but nevertheless, these three definitely caught my attention.

Ravishing Rose

This shade is a beautiful cool-toned pink. It reminds me of Wet N’ Wild’s Mauve Outta Here which has always been my favorite but this one’s a bit lighter.

All Fired Up

A beautiful pinkish coral shade. It can brighten up any look. It’s definitely perfect for summer.

Touch of Spice

This is my favorite shade among all of the lipsticks in the entire line. it’s a beautiful warm, dark plummy shade that reminds me of the 90s. I actually don’t have any lipstick similar to this one (at least I don’t think I do)  so this became an instant hit for me.

As mentioned, I only have three shades and so far, they’re decently pigmented. They have a semi-matte finish (I would say ‘satin’ actually) and they go smoothly when applied. Further, I actually didn’t find any issues when it comes to retouching.

The thing that I love most about these lipsticks is that they’re moisturizing and they’re very lightweight. They also provide a decent longevity. In my case, they last for about four-five hours and sometimes more. They also have that classic Maybelline scent, which is not overpowering. They don’t leave my lips dry or chapped at the end of the day.

As mentioned, they offer a decent pigmentation, All Fired Up and Touch of Spice is nearly opaque that it can cover up my entire lips with one to two layers. Ravishing Rose is also opaque and pigmented, however, I find it somehow a bit chalky. It tends to settle on to the lines of my lips, which required me to add more layers. The other two shades were just fine. It didn’t settle on to the lines of my lips what so ever.

All in all, I actually love these lipsticks and I’m definitely going to grab more shades. I got this back when they were only Php 199. I know, I know, I should’ve gotten more! These three regardless of the minor flaws I’ve noted earlier have been my favorite lipsticks for the past few months, so like I said, I’m definitely going to grab more.
