Ten years: from toddlers to teens…

On May 30, 2007, I decided to start a blog.

This whole ‘blog’ things was relatively new at the time, but I’d been reading several of them at work on my lunch hours and thought I’d give it a try.

I was a full-time working mom of a 6-year-old, 4-year-old and and 16-month-old. At the time, there didn’t seem to be much ‘me’ in my life, so blogging seemed like a perfect outlet for worries and frustrations. Plus a way to share family Stories and photos.

Over the past 10 years, a lot has changed, both in my life and on my blog.

I was laid off from my ‘real’ job, unemployed for 2 years, and eventually turned blogging and social media into a new career, both here on my own site and with TravelingMom.

My blog moved from blogspot to self-hosted WordPress. I started a second blog for product reviews and a third for crafting and knitting-related content. Eventually I merged the sites back together and brought everything back ‘home’ here to Mom of 3 Girls.

My girls have grown from preschoolers and toddler. In 2007, my oldest was in kindergarten. Now she’s a high school junior and her sisters are in 9th and 6th grades.

Over the years, I’ve written about my and their lives and shared both the good times and the difficult ones. Writing about the girls got harder as they got older and more concerned with what content I was sharing. Plus, there aren’t quite so many ‘cute’ teenager stories to write about…

Nevertheless, I’ve managed to keep things afloat here, not as often as I would like, but here and there.

My intention is to allow this site to grow and change as our lives do. I may not have cute little kid stories anymore, but I do have parenting challenges, and a lot more ‘me’ that I can share about. I’ve discovered new hobbies and picked old ones back up. As my girls have grown, we have found activities that we enjoy together as well.

That’s what makes life interesting – it always evolves.

Let’s see what the next 10 years will bring.
