Fun Things to do in Marin and the Bay Area this Week: October 18-24

Bring the kiddos to the Goblin Jamboree this weekend at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito. Reservations required.

Keep the kiddos busy! Here's out list of fun things to do with the kids for the week of October 18–24. We've broken it down day-by-day with suggestions for activities, outings, events, and more that you can use to help plan out your week.

Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!

Monday, October 18

  • Enjoy songs, rhymes, and a story with your little ones on the lawn next to the San Anselmo Library, 10:30 am.
  • Pick the perfect pumpkin or take a tractor ride at Pronzini Pumpkin Patch in Petaluma, open daily, 11 am–7 pm.
  • Have the kids help make a pot of tasty chicken pozole verde.
  • Check out one of our favorite Halloween movies to check out at your local Marin County library.

Tuesday, October 19

  • Enjoy a cup of tea and let the little ones (ages 2+) play at the Fox & Kit indoor playground in San Rafael, Tuesday, 8 am–5:30 pm.
  • Check out some of our favorite Halloween books to read together at your local library.
  • Harry Potter fans: make your own butterbeer with our easy recipe.
  • Go swing, climb and play at Piper Park in Larkspur.

Harry Potter fans will love this recipe for DIY butterbeer that tastes surprisingly like the version you get at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Wednesday, October 20

  • Create a cute pumpkin craft using mini popsicle sticks, acrylic paints, and some other materials like construction paper and felt.
  • Enjoy a fun fall day out at the new Grossi Family Farm Pumpkin Patch in Novato. Opens 10 am, Wednesday–Sunday.
  • Bring a blanket and join Mill Valley Librarian Lauren for outdoor storytime and songs, Wednesdays at 10:15 am, Amphitheater stage behind the Library.
  • Take the kiddos skating during Toddlers on Ice at Snoopy's Home Ice in Santa Rosa, Wednesday, 11 am–noon.

Thursday, October 21

  • Learn how to make a LEGO Jack o Lantern.
  • Visit the Santa Rosa Pumpkin Patch to pick the perfect pumpkin, take a hay ride, and visit the animals at the petting zoo.
  • Reserve your spot at The Gravity Vault Marin indoor rock climbing gym in San Rafael, 9 am–6 pm.
  • Hang out with the fish at the Cal Academy's Steinhart Aquarium, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

Celebrate Halloween at the Oakland Zoo's Boo at the Zoo. Friday–Sunday, 10 am–4 pm

Friday, October 22

  • Drop in to Playland in Sausalito for bounce house free play. Friday, 9 and 10:30 am.
  • Take part in a spooky scavenger hunt at Boo at the Zoo at the Oakland Zoo! (Advance tickets required), Friday–Sunday, 10 am–4 pm.
  • Pick the perfect pumpkin and find your way through the Amazing Corn Maze at Petaluma Pumpkin Patch. Friday & Saturday, 10 am–10 pm; Sunday, 10 am–6 pm
  • Sing along with children's entertainer Megan Schoenbohm at Corte Madera Town Park, 10:30 am & 12:30 pm.
  • Catch a free outdoor showing of Disney's The Little Mermaid at Marin Country Mart, Friday, 6 pm.
  • Explore the Cal Academy at night for a spooky good time at SuperNatural. Friday, 6:30 pm
  • Head to the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma for a drive-in screening of Ghostbusters. Friday, 7 pm

Saturday & Sunday, October 23 & 24

  • Put on your costume and celebrate the spooky season at this year's Goblin Jamboree at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, Saturday & Sunday (advanced tickets required).
  • Get a taste of life on the farm at Weekend Along the Farm Trails, Saturday & Sunday, 9 am–5 pm.
  • Celebrate Sloth-oween at the SF Zoo's Boo at the Zoo. Saturday & Sunday, 10 am–5 pm.
  • Visit the new Grossi Family Farm Pumpkin Patch in Novato on their opening day! Saturday & Sunday, 10 am–6 pm.
  • Sing along with kids' entertainer Tim Cain at Nicasio Valley Pumpkin Patch, Sunday, 11 am–noon.
  • Enjoy live music, food, and more at the Novato Harvest Festival and Grape Stomp. Saturday, 12:30 pm–6:30 pm
  • Cut your own bucket of flowers on the last day fo the season at The Happy Dahlia Farm in Petaluma. Saturday, noon–2 pm
  • Put on your costume and head to downtown San Rafael for trick-or-treating. Saturday, 1–3 pm
  • Join the Lark Drive-In for a screening of the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus. Saturday, 7 pm
