Fun Things to do in Marin and the Bay Area this Week: June 1-6

Keep the kiddos busy! Here's out list of fun things to do with the kids for the week of June 1–6. We've broken it down day-by-day with suggestions for activities, outings, events, and more that you can use to help plan out your week.

Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!

Tuesday, June 1

  • Swim in the mineral spring pool at Morton's Warm Springs Resort in Glen Ellen. Open Tuesday–Sunday; advance reservations required.
  • Visit the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park for free on the first Tuesday of the month.
  • Children's Fairyland presents Flora and Fauna, an online series that gets kids age 4 to 8 outside and into nature!

Wednesday, June 2

  • Read aloud with the animated storybook, The Very Quite Cricket by Eric Carle.
  • Chill in the sun and play in the sand at the Bay Area Discovery Museum's new beach. Wednesday–Monday, 9 am–4 pm.
  • Shop for fantastic local produce and foods at the Fairfax Community Farmers Market in Bolinas Park, 4–8 pm

Thursday, June 3

  • Explore an easy mountain bike trail with the kids in Marin.
  • Cool off with homemade strawberry yogurt sorbet.
  • Come face-to-face with the often fearsome and always fascinating denizens of the deep in "Sharks", the new exhibit at San Francisco's California Academy of Sciences.

Friday, June 4

  • Take a ride on one of the Bay Area's classic carousels!
  • Check out the live cams at the San Diego Zoo.
  • Get ready for live Broadway Under the Stars drive-in performances at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, opening June 4.

Saturday, June 5

  • Find out why you Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. Performances at 10 am and noon.
  • Head to the Lark Drive-In at the Village at Corte Madera for a screening of The Empire Strikes Back, 8:45 pm.
  • Kids rule this Saturday's North Bay Drive In with a free showing of Matlida in Novato, 9 pm

Sunday, June 6

  • Make a fresh batch of delicious homemade cinnamon rolls.
  • Visit the animals and hike at Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma.
  • Head to one of the Bay Area's water parks for some waterslides and fun in the sun.
