Marin Summer Camp Update for 2020

Tags: camp

Many parents are no doubt wondering what's happening with Marin summer camps in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic. The good news right now is that the County of Marin recently issued new guidelines for camps and youth activities that permits them to operate in-person for everyone, not just for children of essential workers, after June 1, 2020.

Guidelines stipulate that camps must operate with stable groups of 12 or fewer children in three-week sessions (“stable” means that the same children are in the same group each day), and children may not switch from one group to another. Camps with multiple groups must have each group in a separate room, and groups cannot mix with each other. Camp counselers or educators must remain solely with one group of children. Appropriate sanitation and social distancing measures must be observed, too. You can read more about the guidelines for camps and youth activities at marinrecovers.com/summer-camps-youth-activities.

For summer camps in Marin, this means that while some are unfortunately canceled, many others are modifying their plans to operate under these guidelines, will be offering virtual online camps, or both.
