July 1st

National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day

On July 1st, we celebrate National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day, a day that encourages everyone to get creative with their choice of ice cream flavors.

While we all love the classic flavors like strawberry, vanilla, or chocolate, this day is all about trying something new. How about Coffee & Donuts or Cherry Pistachio ice cream? Or maybe a Lemon Thyme or Oatmeal Raisin ice cream suits your style more. It doesn’t matter what you choose, just be sure to change up your ice cream choices on this day.

Ice cream has a long history, dating back to 200 BC when the Chinese had a dessert that was very much like ice cream, a mixture of rice and milk frozen by packing it into snow. Roman emperors also would have ice and snow brought down from mountaintops to be flavored.

Ice cream production increased in the 19th century thanks to advances in technology. Its popularity really took off after WWII. So, on July 1st, take a moment to enjoy an ice cream that you like. And remember, if you can’t find an unusual flavor that you like, then you can always make up your own ice cream flavor.

Don’t forget to share your creative ice cream flavors on social media using the hashtag #NationalCreativeIceCreamFlavorsDay. Let’s spread the joy of creative ice cream flavors together!

July 5th

National Graham Cracker Day

On July 5th, we celebrate National Graham Cracker Day. This day is dedicated to the humble graham cracker, a food item that most people don’t think too much about unless they’re making s’mores or some other graham cracker-based snack.

Graham crackers were invented by Sylvester Graham in the early 19th century. Graham was a Presbyterian minister who was looking to invent a food that would go along with his vegetarian diet, a diet that he believed would make people less likely to engage in what he considered sinful behavior.

The first graham crackers were made using unrefined flour, which made them very bland. During the late 19th century, a variety of bakeries all over the U.S made graham crackers. In 1898, these bakeries formed together to form the National Biscuit Company—also known as Nabisco.

National Graham Cracker Day can be observed by simply picking up some graham crackers and enjoying them straight out of the box or in a recipe. Graham crackers form the basis of many desserts including s’mores, frozen fruit sandwiches, ice cream sandwiches and can even be used for pie crusts.

Share your favorite graham cracker recipes and enjoy these “crackers” with friends and family members. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #GrahamCrackerDay when sharing your celebrations on social media!

Video Game Day

On July 8th, we celebrate Video Game Day. This day is dedicated to recalling the fun and enjoyment we gain from playing games on our various consoles and devices.

Video games have come a long way since their inception in the 20th century. From the first commercially available video game, “Computer Space”, to the Atari Video Computer System (VCS) which introduced the concept of removable cartridges, the evolution of video games has been remarkable.

The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) revolutionized the home video game market in 1985 with its advanced setup and pad controller. Today, the video game industry is worth over $70 billion worldwide, with almost 60% of all Americans playing video games.

Video Game Day is a great excuse to spend the entire day playing games with your family and friends. It’s also a great day to learn a little bit more about video games and how they came into existence. You can play games on a modern system or you can play one of the classics.

So go out there and play your favorite games. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #VideoGameDay when sharing your celebrations on social media!

National Chocolate with Almonds Day

On July 8th, we celebrate National Chocolate with Almonds Day. This day is dedicated to the delightful combination of chocolate and almonds, a pairing that many people agree is a winner every single time.

Chocolate and almonds are both fascinating in their own right. Did you know that to make a pound of chocolate, you need approximately 400+ cacao beans? And a cacao tree can produce approximately 2,500 beans, meaning each tree can make enough beans for over 6-pounds of chocolate.

As for almonds, 80% of the world’s almonds come from California. It takes 1.2 million beehives to pollinate California’s almond crop. Interestingly, chocolate manufacturers use 40% of the world’s almond supply.

National Chocolate with Almonds Day is a perfect day to enjoy desserts that contain these two ingredients. This could be an almond chocolate bar, or a chocolate cake with almonds in it. Whatever you choose to make or eat, be sure to use the hashtag #NationalChocolateWithAlmondsDay to let everyone know you’re observing this sweet holiday.

Pandemonium Day

On July 14th, we celebrate Pandemonium Day, a day dedicated to embracing the chaos and unpredictability of life.

Of all the July Holidays this is a favorite. Life can often feel like a whirlwind of activities, responsibilities, and unexpected events. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the pandemonium that life can sometimes throw our way. But here’s the good news: Pandemonium Day is all about acknowledging this chaos and turning it into something positive.

This is a day where the normal rules don’t apply. It’s a day to step out of your comfort zone, break free from the usual routine, and do something spontaneous and fun. Maybe it’s trying a new hobby, taking a day trip to a place you’ve never been, or simply spending the day doing whatever brings you joy.

Pandemonium Day is a reminder that it’s okay to let go of control sometimes and just go with the flow. It’s a day to celebrate the unexpected and find joy in the midst of chaos. So, let’s embrace the pandemonium and make July 14th a day of fun, adventure, and maybe a little bit of healthy chaos!

National Sour Candy Day

On July 18th, we celebrate National Sour Candy Day, a day that’s all about the tangy, face-puckering treats that some of us absolutely love and others love to hate.

While most people think of candy as sweet, there’s a growing number of us who crave the lip-puckering sourness that only sour candies can provide. From sour gummies to sour straws, these candies offer a unique taste sensation that’s a real thrill for the taste buds.

National Sour Candy Day was created in 2015 by the American Licorice Company, makers of the Sour Punch candy line. They wanted to encourage people to enjoy more sour candies and what better way to do that than with a day dedicated to these tangy treats?

So, on July 18th, why not grab a bag of your favorite sour candies and enjoy the zingy, zesty flavors that make these candies so unique? Whether you’re a fan of sour worms, sour patch kids, or any other sour candy, this is the day to indulge and enjoy.

Lollipops have been a source of delight for children (and adults!) for over 110 years. Recognizable by their vibrant colors, variety of flavors, and the stick they’re mounted on, lollipops are a treat beloved by many. So much so, that a special day was created just to honor them.

National Lollipop Day is believed to have been created by the National Confectioners Association. The lollipop itself was invented by George Smith of New Haven, Connecticut in 1908. He named his creation “Lolly Pop” after a popular racehorse of the era, and in 1931, he trademarked the lollipop name.

So, on July 20th, why not enjoy a lollipop or two? Whether you’re a fan of the classic flavors or prefer the more exotic ones, this is the day to indulge and enjoy. And if you’re feeling generous, why not share some lollipops with friends and family?

National Chili Dog Day

On July 27th, we celebrate National Chili Dog Day, a day that’s all about the delicious combination of a hot dog topped with chili. It is one of my families favorite July holidays.

The chili dog is a beloved comfort food that varies in style depending on the region it’s enjoyed in. Some say it was invented on Brooklyn’s Coney Island, others claim it was born in Los Angeles or Chicago. Regardless of its origin, the chili dog has become a staple in American cuisine.

The history of the chili dog is intertwined with the history of the hot dog itself. Charles Feltman, a street vendor, is credited with the invention of the hot dog, selling dachshund sausages in milk rolls from his wagon as early as the 1860s. He opened a hot dog stand on Coney Island in 1871, selling over 3,600 hot dogs that year.

The chili dog emerged when people began topping their hot dogs with chili to enhance the taste. Today, you can enjoy a chili dog with your choice of onions, pickles, mustard, ketchup, or any other toppings you desire.

So, on July 27th, why not grab a hot dog, smother it in chili, and enjoy this classic American dish? And don’t forget to share your chili dog creations on social media using the hashtag #NationalChiliDogDay. Let’s celebrate the joy of chili dogs together!

National Love is Kind Day

On July 27th, we celebrate National Love is Kind Day, a day that’s all about promoting love, kindness, and respect in our relationships. Be sure to check out our article on 101 Acts of Kindness.

This day was created by Rosie and Sunny Aiello of the Love is Kind Network in 2019. Their mission is to spread the message of love and kindness and to work towards ending domestic violence. National Love is Kind Day is a day to celebrate all of the victims of domestic abuse who have freed themselves from their abuser, to highlight the problem of domestic abuse, and to give voice to those who are still suffering.

Of all the July holidays this is a very special day. It’s also a day to remember those who weren’t so lucky in getting away from their abusers and have suffered and died as a result. This day serves as a reminder that everyone deserves to be treated with love and respect.

On this day, consider donating to organizations that support victims of domestic violence, such as the Love is Kind Fund.
