#vietnamtravel #laocai – Like Cat Cat village, Lao Chai – Ta Van is inhabited by ethnic minorities, about 7km from the center of Sapa town. If you travel from Sapa town center, you go along Cau May street, then turn to Muong Hoa. So you start your journey away from the bustling and busy streets, visitors start to experience a different life, the meaning of the village. Behind the back is the hustle and bustle of SaPa, but in front of the space is idyllic. If there are no electric poles to bring light to the village, there is no paved road leading to the village, this place is the right “quality” of the Mong ethnic minorities, Dao, Giay, Tay … indigenous people. They enjoy now more and more modern facilities, but indigenous people still retain the traditional culture and traditions. It is also attracting visitors at home and abroad.
This is what draws us to these areas, the traditions and culture of the minorities. This video shows the colourful dress codes of Mong and other minorities.
Smiling faces which do not show the hardship some of those have to endure on a daily base. Their main source of income is agriculture. They tend to their farms, rice paddies, vegetable farms and work throughout the day without a holiday.
What is written in their faces is however a different story. Their lifestyle is better than their counterparts’ in the West.
