FORT BEND TEXAS DIVORCE COURTS

Michael Busby

This article does not address the Title IV courts in Fort Bend only the divorce courts. There are two divorces courts in Fort Bend County.  Both courts require mediation before a temporary orders hearing involving child custody.  The 387th typically calls docket at 9 a.m. and the cases are bifurcated between the judges based on even or odd numbers.  You have one presiding judge and one associate judge.  The 328th calls docket at 8:30 a.m. and the associate judge sits in during docket and is assigned cases by the presiding judge who then takes the cases over to his courtroom.  Both courts require you to sign up in the 1st floor with your filings on the day of a prove up of an uncontested divorce.  The 328th requires you to sign up before 8:15 a.m.  Do not be late.  Both courts require a parenting class before you can complete a divorce with children, but many times do not enforce this requirement.  Cases once filed in the Fort Bend County Divorce Courts are not brought to trial unless you motion the Court.  The court will set cases for dismissal for failure to prosecute after about 2 years if you do not seek a trial setting. Contact information for the court is listed below.
