My daughter and I then dived into the Dinosaurs and the Bible. There are 6 different lessons and each video is about 20 minutes long. At the end of each lesson there is a worksheet that contains discussions questions based on what you saw in the video. You could even answer them as you work your way through the videos. At the end of the 6 lessons there is a final exam to take to see if you retained the knowledge. We did use the discussion questions but we answered them orally instead of writing. We will be watching the series again to make sure we didn’t miss anything the first time.

The 6 lessons in this video course talk about: modern views, classification, dinosaur rush, extinction, ice age, fossils, age and soft tissue. I will admit when we first started the lesson I wasn’t sure if it would hold my daughters interest. As we worked through the lessons each of them got more and more interesting. What I found to really like about this was the fact of the supporting evidence and things that took you back to places in the Bible. If you look at it from a creation point of view the world is really only 6,000 years old. When you try to look at it at a secular view you just don’t see the supporting evidence. This really goes into how each view is looked it and how things came about.
I think one of my favorites parts of this video was the very last video that talked about the soft tissue. Things have to be preserved just right and when soft tissue is found, it is a game changer. By a game changer I mean that it isn’t as old as the secular view seems to think it is. I also think it is just fascinating on how the fossils are all spread out. I also liked the use of charts throughout the lessons. For Example some of the charts that were used were how dinosaurs were classified with bird hips or lizard hips, and the different eras both secular and Biblical. There were more charts then just that, but that is what I can remember off the top of my head.
Northwest Treasures has a variety of curriculum from a younger age all the way up to adult. One the things that I am considering next is the study of geology in National Parks, Monuments, and Historical Trails. Each of these kids come with road guides and rocks, minerals, and fossils from around the National Park Areas. One day I would even like to plan a Yellowstone Creation Adventure and Field Trip. I think it would be really interesting to be able to see the beauty for yourself and be able to learn hands on. I think my daughter would be fascinated with learning how to identify the different rock types. I would highly suggest checking out the other educational kits and curricula. It would be a nice addition to your science class!
