Homeschool Week In Review – Memorial Day

This week went by incredibly fast. It also threw my days off with Monday being Memorial Day. Honestly I don’t even really remember what we did for Memorial. I know that it rained in the morning and I didn’t get my walk in.

Tuesday my son had his interview for his internship this summer. I thought it was to be more like an interview and that depending on how that went would depend if he got the internship or not. Well he got it on the spot. He will be working at a grocery store two days a week doing the stocking. He will work July and August. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I am excited for him. He seems to be looking forward to it as well. After the interview we met my mom and daughter for lunch. We went to a pizza buffet and it really was a disappointment.

Thursday we Spent the afternoon hanging out with friends. I also spent some time looking at a online homeschool conference that starts on Monday. I am actually looking forward to it as it had many topics that I was interested in. I hope that I walk away with some new ideas. The other part of the conference has to do with blogging. So I am excited about that as well. I also spent time with the kids trying to figure out the interests for our next school year. Our new year begins in August, but we will still be on our summer schedule. Our full schedule will resume in September.

Friday was an absolute blast. We got together with other homeschools for a day of fun. We started out with bowling and then we headed to a nearby park. We went for dinner and then to the wild life sanctuary. Most of it was closed down but we did get to walk around to see the baby goslings.

Saturday we spent the day fishing. We didn’t really get any bites. My husband did catch a HUGE tree branch. Even though we didn’t get any bites, it was relaxing and quiet. Well ok and a little bit nerve racking as my daughter makes me nervous near water. I don’t know maybe its just me and I have this phobia of her falling in. You just never know with kids. I think it has something to do with seeing my friends kid fall into the river near a damn. I will never forget that day. Scared me. He did get out safely. I think ever since then I have been a little paranoid. I don’t ever want to see something like that again.

Today was nice. We went out for two walks down to the beach. We saw rainbows tonight. The dog loved the walk on the beach. She wasn’t interested in the water though. She just wanted to explore. She ran right up to one of the decoys that scares the seagulls and geese away. She got bored with that not long after. We spent time with my oldest. We don’t get to see him much since he moved into his own apartment. So that was nice.

This week we did finish up Q the Robot. That was really fun. The Review will be out tomorrow sometime. My son worked in his grammar book. My daughter still is eagerly working on critical thinking and cursive. We did get our new bible study in the mail for review and will start that on Monday. Oh and she has been enjoying her art lessons as well.

Hope you all have a great week.
