Week In Review – Started our Summer Schedule

This week I have decided to switch to our Summer Schedule. The weather is starting to get nice and I would really like to spend more time outdoor with the kids. I also would like to do some more social things for the kids as well. I think after the year we had and trying hard to catch up we really need this down time. We will be focusing on reviews for the rest of the summer and when we are not then I will have some other things planned. I want my daughter to finish up her math for the year and the way it looks it will be July when we are finished with that.

It has been a rough week. I am upset that the neuropsychologist refused to evaluate my son. Her reason was that it is too soon to test him and we may get false positives. I am just shaking my head because of the fact that I needed this second opinion, as over a year ago the quack we went to see had a very conflicted report. On top of it we are looking for newer things. One of the things I asked the psychiatrist was if there were online programs or even therapies we could go to that would help with processing. Apparently a psychologist has ideas for us but we have to go in to see them. Not really sure why I couldn’t just have the suggestions. We shall see where this goes. Maybe they can do some of the testing we need to be done to check for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalcia.

Another reason for the roughness is I have been dealing and becoming more aware with my anxiety. I guess I have been in denial at just how bad it really is. I am not really open to talk about it. Apparently from what I was told we have just scratched the surface, that in  itself is brutal as it sounds like there is a whole lot more to find out. It took me 7 months to get past the cancer scare I had. That in itself has really taken a lot out of me. Earlier this week I totally realized that I have been thinking my son has 3 years until he graduates….well it’s 2 more years. I lost some time somewhere and I find that to be the most frustrating. How can I not know what grade my son is in. I had to go back and check the forms I submitted to DPI to make sure that I had sent those right the last couple years. Thankfully I did submit them correctly. I even went back to look at the NOT back to school kick off we had and well I was right on track then. I am trying hard to figure out when I forgot and started thinking he was in 9th grade. Sad to say I think it was shortly after my whole world was turned upside down in September. I find it very frustrating. One of the things I asked about was anxiety and memory as my memory seems to have gone to the pot!! On a positive note we are still moving along nicely and nothing that I had planned for the year really got messed up. It just took us longer to finish with the interruptions we had.

This week I decided to find something I can do for myself. I signed up for Craftsy unlimited. I have been taking a mobile photography class. Right now I am just getting used to the settings on my phone. I have been practicing my focal points, trying motion pictures, panoramas, and using HDR. The next class is about advanced photography. I suppose we will be getting more into the filters and editors. I am looking forward to it. I had no idea there are times you can take better pictures with your camera then you can with a big girl camera! So I am really excited about that. I can buy some lenses and filters for my phone. I do plan on it in time! For now I want to learn the editing and what I can use now. There are also some other classes I want to take such as Art Journaling, Water Colors, and Acrylic paintings as well. So I have been making time for myself.

We finished this week spending time with friends. We did some rummaging, park playing, shopping, and grilling out. It was nice to be able to get out. The weather has been gorgeous too. This week we are suppose to get more rain so we had to enjoy it while we could.

I did my lesson planning based on the reviews so I knew what to focus on and when they were do. I picked up my daughter some good water color paints for her art class she is doing for a review. She is loving it so far. I think we will have all the lessons done when the review is due. If not very close to finishing. My son is starting a Art History Class this week. I can’t wait to get started with him on that. We also have Q The Robot to work on this week as well. That just came over the weekend and I am super excited to get it started. We have also been working on a Labor Day Unit Study that we will be finishing up. That has been interesting to learn about. Lots of things I didn’t know. I find it something that I couldn’t care less in high school, but I absolutely love learning about it now. I wish I had paid more attention.

My daughter has penciled in some time for the upcoming week to do some STEM in the Kitchen as well as making Galaxy Slime! This should be fun. Anything that has to do with slime she is wanting to try. It is still a big craze in this house.

Hope you all have a great week.
