A Tale of The Monkey Balloon – Book Review

Do your kids have a special item that they just can’t stand the thought of losing? My daughter has a stuffed animal from her older brother, and my son has his Winnie the Pooh blanket from when he was a baby. The reason I ask is because the children’s book that we had the chance to review made me think of what special items my kids have that they just couldn’t stand to lose. The children’s book we are reviewing is called A Tale of The Monkey Balloon written by Rebecca Eisenberg & Mindy Winebrenner. It is illustrated by Yuki Osada.

A Tale of The Monkey Ballo0n is about a girl, who name is Mimi. I think she got the Monkey Balloon earlier that day from the zoo. It seemed to me that this monkey balloon was really special to her. She feel asleep and started dreaming that she lost her monkey balloon. The monkey balloon went on a quite an adventure through different fairy tales. In her dream Mimi and her father were looking for the monkey balloon. They looked through several fairy tales but didn’t find it. Of course at the end her alarm clock rings and she realizes she didn’t lose it after all.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading The Monkey Balloon books to groups of children at school and community events.

My Thoughts:

A Tale of the Monkey is actually a sequel to the book The Monkey Balloon which was released in 2014. I thought that this book was a very sweet children’s story. It actually made me think of my kids and the one thing that they really don’t want to lose. The illustrations in the book were very engaging. They were bright and colorful. Mimi and her father were in silhouettes but the places they were, or should I say the monkey balloon was really stood out. I like how the fairy tales kinda came to life looking for the monkey ballon. The story had a happy ending. What little one doesn’t like a story with a happy ending.

One thing I noticed at the end of the book that I really liked was that it gave you tips for reading. It encourage different things to get the most out of the story. It also provided additional resources at the books website. I always find it helpful to have tips on how to make the most of books.

Disclaimer: I did receive a copy of A Tale of The Monkey Balloon for my review. I did not get paid for this blog post. This post is not influenced in any way and is 100% my own fair and honest opinion.
