Enjoying Spring Before Winter Returns

These last two weeks have been extremely rough. There have been so many disturbances and it literally has emotionally and mentally wore me out! So this week we took a Spring Break. We have been out enjoying the weather before Winter Returns again. We are suppose to get a sloppy mess tomorrow. I just hope that we will be able to make it to the Easter event tomorrow.

Wednesday my daughter and I headed to the Wild Life Sanctuary. Now is the time the ducks and the geese start nesting. They were a little scarce and they weren’t very hungry to feed. You could see the pairs and the males fighting over the females. None of them have started to build nests yet. The wolves and the coyotes were howling. They did it at two different times. I love hearing them howl. You can hear it through the whole place.

Thursday we headed down to the Valley. We started out by stopping to see the Windmill. I didn’t know that they had tours. Of course we were a couple days early and we couldn’t take the tour. One of these days we will finally get to go through it.

Next went to Heseeker Park to take a walk along the Fox River. That was a gorgeous walk. When we first started on the path deer ran right across the path. It kinda of spooked me at first because I have never seen deer run right in front of me like that. As we were walking we noticed a morning dove in it’s nest. If you look closely you can see it peeking.

Along the trail you are surrounded by water. On one side of the trail is the locks and the other side is the river and the dams. The locks didn’t look to pretty as they were closed and the water was drying up. I didn’t take a picture of it because it just didn’t look appealing. This is one of the damns we saw. We walked around to a park for the kids to play. It was a 2.5 mile walk according to my Samsung Health App.

Today we went to Fonferek Glen to see the waterfall. We did try to get down to the bottom as you can actually go behind the falls. It was so super slippery and muddy we ended up stopping and turning around. We will go back again once the mud dries up. The bluffs are really neat to see as it is all limestone.

Just getting out and about in the fresh air does wonders. The exercise has been fantastic. It really clears your mind and is a nice distraction of what is going on around you.
