Fire and Ice Festival 2018

On the popular events that happen in Sturgeon Bay, WI is the Fire and Ice Festival. In different parts of town you will have seen ice and snow sculptures carving the ice and snow into beautiful designs. The ice blocks themselves were 300 pounds. There was a map of all the ice and snow sculptures.  There was different events at different places. I think there was a Fire aspect to the part of the Fire and Ice Festival, however, I didn’t get to see that. I decided last minute to and look at these amazing sculptures. I just wish on some of them I could have taken better pictures. The time of day didn’t really help. Thank you to my friend who had shined her light from her phone so I could get better pictures!

The sculpture you see above is a dog. I actually can say I know the sculptor who made this. She placed first for her class. I absolutely love the big eyes, they remind me of those cute stuffed animals. I can’t remember who makes them.

I really enjoyed this bear! It sort of reminded me of the coca cola bears!

This was some sort of fish. Wasn’t really crazy about it as I am not a fisherman. It did have good details when you looked up it at close. The picture doesn’t really do it fair justice.

This one reminds me sort of Frankenstein. I might be way off one what it is suppose to be. Either way, I liked it!

Now I know that if my son would have came with me the guitar would have been his favorite!

This was a kangaroo and her baby. This I thought was super cute. Sadly the lighting and time of day for these pictures weren’t the best.

Not really sure what this is suppose to be, but I love the faces on this one.

This was one of my favorites. It was the statue of Liberty all lite up. I think this was the only one that was fully lit up.

Now this ice sculpture was really neat. It was a chicken on top of a bear. This picture doesn’t do it justice. You have to look really close to see it.

Now this sculpture fit the theme of fire and ice! This was suppose to be fire.

This sculpture was at Stone Harbor Hotel. The gala was held at this hotel. The sculpture is of a couple dancing.

I love the igloo. It has a nice space in the opening that a little animal or child could fit in.

Now this was another favorite! This was an eskimo and his sled with a dog. On the back of the eskimo was a backpack with a little pup sticking out.

This was super cute. I think that this is one of the characters from the new Star Wars movie.

This was a light house. The little ball at the top did change colors. I think I got a picture with every color!! I am not picture happy am I???

This I thought was super sweet. The bird is actually on a hand. If you look close enough you can see the fingers and finger nails.

Here is another fish. If you look close you can see a lure in its mouth. This wasn’t my favorite but I did like the details that were done on this fish.

If my daughter had come along, I am pretty sure this horse would have been her favorite. She probably would have been even more excited if it was a unicorn.

This snow sculpture was down by the bridge to cross the canal. It is of a fisherman. I actually really liked this one as it was really detailed.

Not really sure what this sculpture is suppose to be. I snapped a picture of it anyway.

Nothing really fancy just a heart.

I don’t know what kind of fish this was, but I really did like this one. Very different from the others.

This is one I really liked. I think it is suppose to be a penguin.

This sculpture I thought was pretty amazing. It was of two roses. Just in time for Valentine’s Day

I think my friend and I agreed that this was one of the most amazing sculptures. It was a crane, tree trunk, and lily pad. The crane is one of my favorite birds, of course there is a story behind that, however, I shall save that for another time.

This was the last sculpture on the list. This was absolutely incredible and amazing. You could say we saved the best for last and we didn’t know. How precious of a mama bird feeding her baby bird!

As you can see there were many wonderful entries. Everyone did an amazing job! You can also see that it was very hard to pick a favorite. Congrats to each and every person who took the time to make these amazing sculptures.
