2017 Homeschool Review Crew Blue Ribbon Awards

I can’t believe it is already this time of year. It has gone by so fast. We have been blessed with so many amazing homeschool products this year to review. We found quite a few that we really enjoy and plan to keep using. The Homeschool Review Crew has voted on our favorites that we have used during the year. Vendors then receive the Blue Ribbon Awards with the votes they won. Congratulations to all the vendors who received Blue Ribbon Awards! There were many of them that were on my list this year.

Favorite Reading Curriclum – Reading Eggs – Reading Eggs is an online reading program for ages 2 – 13. We are currently still using reading eggs for a reading curriculum. It takes the kids a bit of time to go through the lessons. I love that there is spelling so on days I give them off from reading they are working on spelling, vocabulary, and grammar. My daughter just loves the fact that she earns the eggs to buy things for her apartment or to play arcade games. It is such an amazing program. The kids are to the point where they are teaching different things about reading, such as more detailed comprehension, cause and effect, and so on. If you would like to read my Review you can find here.

Favorite Literature Curriculum – Hewitt Homeschooling – Lightning Literature is my absolute favorite. This is one curriculum that I have decided to stick with. What really drew me to this program was that way they teach the students to write. It is done in steps. It’s not just thrown at them to do. It’s introduced in a way that makes sense. This has worked great with my daughter. I have seen her blossom in her writing. We also love the different books that we use for literature. I will be purchasing this again for next year. You can find my review here.

Favorite Social Studies Curriculum – Let’s Go Geography – We have really enjoyed learning about the different countries. One of my favorite things about Let’s Go Geography is that all the lessons are planned out for you. It is very interesting and never dull. It can stem more learning as we go through as well. I think on of my daughters favorite things about this is the fact that there is a craft project with every lesson. Read my review here.

Favorite History Supplement – Rush Revere – We really enjoyed reading about Rush Revere. The stories were so amazing and it really brings history to life. My daughters favorite character of course was Liberty. She laughed and laughed at Liberty. Since it is Thanksgiving we have decided to reread the book Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims. Read my review here.

Favorite Fine Arts Curriculum – Creating a Masterpiece  – We really enjoyed the different art lessons at Creating a Masterpiece. The lessons are taught so well and the theory behind it, is that everyone is an artist. You are taught different techniques to use for  your own pictures. My favorite was the soft pastels. The memories created with my daughter as well is another favorite. If you looking for good quality lessons then I high suggest checking out Creating a Masterpiece. Read my review here.

Favorite Elective Curriculum – Doctor Aviation – This was a favorite of my sons. Together him and I learned  a lot about the different areas in aviation. One of our favorite parts was learning about the history. It was fascinating to learn about. It gave us a new perspective on things. Some of this history we can see both at the EAA Museum and at the EAA Air Adventure in summer. I am still trying to take my son into the Eagles Program…..however he isn’t sure he wants to have his feet lift the ground. Read my review here.

Favorite Audio Drama or Audiobook –Heirloom Audio Productions: Captain Bayley’s Heir – If you have never heard Heirloom Audio Productions, I highly suggest you check them out. They are our absolute favorite place to go for audio dramas. Each CD keeps you on your toes wanting more. Captain Bayley’s Heir is my absolute favorite. There are lessons to be taught in each of these. History is really brought to life as well. Read my review here.

Kids’ Choice – The Pencil Grip: Thin Stix: This is a new staple in our house. The Thin Stix are an amazing product. A child can paint mess free. You can use them on many different things. Definitely a staple in our art closet. Read my review here.
