Get Outside with The James Museum’s Spring Break Scavenger Hunt!

Survival of the Fittest: Envisioning Wildlife and Wilderness with the Big Four, Masterworks, from the Riijksmuseum Twenthe and the National Museum of Wildlife Art.

Inspired by the theme of experiencing nature first-hand, Museum visitors can spend their spring break exploring different outdoor areas and natural habitats around St. Petersburg. This new experience is designed to celebrate the richness of Pinellas County’s landscape and the organizations working to protect it.

“The scavenger hunt is a way for visitors to actively connect with the themes of our exhibition and experience firsthand the importance of conservation efforts,” said Emily Kapes, Curator of Art at The James Museum. “Just as these artists ventured into the wilderness to create their masterpieces, we encourage participants to follow in their footsteps and explore the natural beauty of our surroundings.”

How it Works

All you have to do is pick up a Field Guide inside the Survival of the Fittest exhibit at The James Museum. You’ll be given a list of five local organizations dedicated to wildlife and environmental conservation. When you show a staff member your Field Guide at the front desk or admission center of each spot, you’ll receive an exclusive and unique sticker to that specific location!

Participating Locations

While some of these places don’t require admission to receive a sticker, adventurers are still encouraged to explore the area and everything each location has to offer.

  • Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center – 700 2nd Ave NE, St. Petersburg
  • Sans Market – 1037 Central Ave, St. Petersburg
  • Sunken Gardens – 1825 4th St N, St. Petersburg
  • Boyd Hill Nature Preserve – 1101 Country Club Way S, St. Petersburg
  • George C. McGough Nature Park – 11901 146th St N, Largo

Additional Details

The James Museum is located at 150 Central Ave, St. Petersburg.

The scavenger hunt will begin on March 11, 2024, and will run through the end of the Survival of the Fittest exhibit on May 26, 2024. Explorers are encouraged to share their pics on social media by tagging The James Muesum @jamesmuseum for a chance to be featured!
