What is the zodiac?

The Zodiac was created by Babylonian astronomers thousands of years ago. The early astronomers mapped the stars to create an agriculture schedule that determined when crops were to be planted or harvested.

Early astronomers created a celestial coordinate system based on the Sun’s path through the sky during the year, called the ecliptic. Longitude was derived from the Sun’s position at the vernal or spring equinox. The celestial sphere was divided into 12 longitude divisions. These 12 divisions are called the 12 signs of the Zodiac.

The Zodiac was adopted by other cultures, including the ancient Greeks and Romans. The word “Zodiac” is derived from the Greek “zoidiakos,” which means a “little animal sign.” It makes sense, since many of the signs of the Zodiac were based on animals.

The Zodiac has been replaced by Astrology. While astronomy is the scientific study of celestial objects, space, and the physical world, astrology, on the other hand, is an art. The study of astrology is a collection of beliefs and traditions that are based on the relationship between the movements of the planets and stars.

Astrologers use astrology to predict the impact of planets and stars on human behavior. They believe that a person’s personality can be predicted based on the movement and location of the planets and stars at the time of birth.

Many people don’t believe that the movement and position of the planets or stars have any connection to life on Earth. However, it’s fun to learn more about the Zodiac even if you do not believe in astrology.

These are the 12 signs and symbols of the Zodiac:

  1. Aries – The ram (March 21 – April 19)
  2. Taurus – The bull (April 20 – May 20)
  3. Gemini – The twins (May 21 – June 20)
  4. Cancer – The crab (June 21 – July 22)
  5. Leo – The lion (July 23 – August 22)
  6. Virgo – The maiden (August 23 – September 22)
  7. Libra – The scales (September 23 – October 22)
  8. Scorpio – The scorpion (October 23 – November 21)
  9. Sagittarius – The archer (November 22 – December 21)
  10. Capricorn – The sea goat (December 22 – January 19)
  11. Aquarius – The water bearer (January 20 – February 18)
  12. Pisces – The fish (February 19 – March 20)

The zodiac signs are derived from constellations within the respective celestial divisions of the Zodiac.
