Dixie was born with a deformity leaving her back legs paralyzed. When her mom brought her home, she tucked them tightly into her Body so she could get around. The friction caused wounds that her mom had to clean daily. Although Dixie didn’t have sensations in her legs, she could feel the weight of dragging them around.

Dixie’s mom, Brittany, works with children with autism. She strongly believes “a disability is part of what makes you special.” Brittany considered herself lucky to be Dixie’s mom, despite any challenges they faced. She got Dixie a wheelchair, but the pup wasn’t happy. She felt restricted and didn’t have a smile on her face like she usually did when she was running free.

Her leg wounds caused her bones to become infected. Treatments weren’t working, so there was no other choice. Both her back legs had to be amputated. The vet warned Brittany that it would take Dixie time to adjust to her new body. However, Dixie adjusted right away! She amazed the vet and her mama!

Dixie is now independent, which gives her so much confidence! She runs and plays just like any other dog. She is so fast that her mom struggles to keep up with her on walks. It’s truly a miracle! You can’t miss this video, folks. Dixie, you are an inspiration!
