CNY Special 2: Welcoming Year of the Monkey at President’s Restaurant

And though I don’t claim to be a food blogger. Ano ito? KAINAN NA NAMAAAN? ;)) After the CNY Part 1, here comes Part 2. And brace yourselves, may Part 3 pa to follow, hehehe.

Henyway, do you still remember the Super Friends? We used to spend so much time together here in our happy little village. May swimming parties, may mga pot luck on the side, may cake fights tuwing birthdays.. oh those were the days. The husbands were friends, hence the wives became friends, ergo the kids became friends – err’body happy. But then, life happened. Everyone became busy -with work, with school. The kids grew up, grew apart. Weekly gatherings became monthly, monthly gatherings became quarterly. Ngayon, kung swertehin man, yearly nalang yata, lol.

It has been a tradition for the Super Friends to go to Binondo for the Chinese New Year. 3 years in a row na yata. So Kap made sure the tradition continues rain or shine, busy o hindi. Even without the dragon & lion dance, even without the ang paos. Basta ang kainan, tuloy pa rin! :P As usual, we hied off to President Grand Palace Restaurant in Ongpin.

2016 is the year of the Fire Monkey, starting from February 8 (Chinese New Year), and ending on January 27, 2017 (Chinese New Year’s Eve). Kap was born in the year of the Earth Monkey.

Great unexpected fortune is predicted to find its way to Monkeys in 2016, so they will not have to worry about food and clothes. The best months for them to make their fortune will be the second and twelfth Chinese lunar months, during which they should make full use of their time to invest and cash in. They should avoid gambling, speculating, and collecting illegal or greedy gains, or they will lose everything they have, especially in the third Chinese lunar month. They should also guard against becoming poor due to greed. Monkeys should not show off their wealth, or they will be persecuted by others. CLICK HERE to read more forecast. ;)

Monkey, monkey, and more monkey! What I bought for friends in lieu of tikoy which they can buy anytime, anywhere, anyway. Aren’t these novelty items just the cutest? <3 Available at Rustan’s. :)

And so, eto na ang mag unggoy! ;)) I suggested Century Seafood Restaurant at the Century Park Hotel for a change (and better food), pero ang kukunat ng mga kasama kong taga-Ayala Alabang! Ayaw magsilabas ng anda hay naku! :P

Every year nalang I always forget the penitensya we go through combing the streets of Binondo during CNY! @_@ Hindi mahulugang-karayom.

I wanted a balloon! Kap said kalat lang daw. Hmp, makunat na, KJ pa! :P

Our simple salo-salo..

3-way duck. I was only able to take a photo of the 1st way. Tinamad na ako to take photos of the rest, pahirapan ha! Ang daming tinidor na naka-abang haha.

Walang tikoy??? Walang buchi??? Ano ang pandikit natin? “The sticky glutinous rice symbolizes the unity and harmony among friends and family members.”

The rugrats all grown up. <3 2 Dayrit boys missing, may mga sariling lakad. BAD! :P

The adult table, with my Lovey. Who must’ve eaten so much tikoy coz she was sticking to me like glue haha.

Kap bought some tikoy & hopia for his friends. Ako walang friends, kaya naka-menos sya. ;)) Balloon nalang sana!

Paputok. For me, yan ang totoong waste of money.

Knick-knacks. Yan ang kalat.

Hindi pa daw kami chinese yang lagay na yan ha! 3 CNY celebrations in succession trololol!

O eto. Tikoy! Double purpose pa, pwede ding pang-valentines haha. Happy CNY peeps! ;)

The 3rd and last CNY instalment up next. Over na ba? ;))
