PORTLAND | The last we heard there were over 500 food carts in Portland and the Alder Street Food Cart Pod in downtown Portland is home to the largest selection of the city’s famed food carts. It’s located between SW Alder and Washington streets, from SW 9th to SW 10th avenues and almost any cuisine you can imagine (and ones you’d never even considered) is represented amongst it 60 or so carts. Rock up, take a walk around, and grab whatever tickles your fancy. If you need some help deciding what to order, here are a few of the best.
Olé Latte serves up ethically sourced single origin coffee, tea, pastries and bagels, and provide a platform for people to “pay if forward”while Ryan Ostler’s truck Jook Joint offers customers some creative Asian/Texas fusion. If it’s comfort food you’re after, try some of the best mac & cheese you’ve ever eaten at Mac & Trees, or the famous Thai take on Hanianese chicken rice at Nong’s Khao Man Gai.
If it’s not obvious already, make sure you arrive at Alder Street Food Cart Pod with an empty stomach, and enjoy.
