The Cult Of Enderle & Moll Plus A Taittinger Steal

It’s beyond trite to reference Burgundy when talking about Pinot Noir. Considering the wines in this offer, not only is the comparison profoundly relevant, the customer base affirms the correlation. Long-time Burgundy collectors are buying in serious quantities.

Enderle & Moll Pinot Noirs are nothing short of a revelation. No, they don’t taste like Burgundy, but they do share a similar aesthetic of lightness matched to intensity, filtered through soil. Yes, even Jancis Robinson deems them “cult” – a rare accolade. Sven Enderle and Florian Moll farm among the oldest vines in Baden; the farming is all organic/biodynamic. The wines spend their elevage in one to six-year-old Dujac barrels, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Many insiders consider Enderle & Moll to be Germany’s single greatest producer of Pinot Noir. That may seem a wild claim, but then you taste the wines and think to yourself, “yeah, alright, well maybe…”

For the money, there is perhaps no greater Pinot value, and this offer represents a “last chance” for the vintage.  These wines come directly to us from the importer. Grab a mixed case, but take heed to taste them quickly so you can return to the well before it dries. There is no difference in the winemaking between the two wines offered; the two cuvées are simply a matter of vine age, and thus yields and concentrations. Below are more details  – they are in stock, ready to deliver and a screaming bargain.

2014 Enderle & Moll Pinot Noir “Basis” – $25  BUY
Sourced from vines around 25 years old, the wine is lighter and brighter than the Liason. Vivid red fruit, incredible clarity and resonance. The wine grows in texture in the glass, though it remains mineral-driven and energetic.
2014 Enderle & Moll Pinot Noir “Liason” – $33 BUY
Sourced from vines close to 50 years old, this wine is called “Liason,” because of the combination of limestone and sandstone soils. Vine age and the lower yields present a darker and denser wine than Basis. Dark red fruits, dried herbs, soil complexity and great structure. Grows notably with some air. Despite its considerable masculinity, there is still beautiful lightness and intensity.

Last but not least, we recently offered the singular 2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé at an unbeatable price, and the response was tremendous.  If you missed out or are already drinking this staggering wine, a second parcel is now available. Thanks to the pound softening, we can now offer these for an even better ridiculously low price: $149 per bottle.  We often bemoan the premium charged for tête du cuvée rosés versus their blanc siblings. We’ve leveled the playing field. 96 points for Vinous and rave reviews from collectors and critics, this is probably the rosé of the vintage.  Rosé can be cloying and clunky at times in youth, yet every time we’ve tried this bottling, its tension, complexity and elegance explode from the glass.  This is must-have for any Champagne collector. Cheers!
