DAILY SELF-LOVE AFFIRMATIONS

For the past couple of months, I have slowly been creating a type of mini Morning routine that helps to get my day started. Unlike my normal daily morning routine, a lot of the things are your basic, everyday kind of actions that you don’t normally think about doing.

But, when I began school again and had to start following a regular schedule, instead of the relaxed pace of summer, this pattern began to develop. It now has gotten to the level that I do these actions in such a specific order every day that if I skip one or do them out of order, something feels slightly off for the entire morning. It’s strange, but even when I’m half asleep, my brain knows what to do.

A part of this mini routine has come around because of the resolutions I set for myself this year. I wanted to be more positive and not hang on to past negative feelings that hold me back from doing things I love. I thought the most helpful to do this would be to start every day with a set of positive thoughts. In all honesty, I have never been one do Affirmations. I thought they were silly. But, I thought since it’s a new year, I wanted to give it a real try. If any of you are looking at trying this out, I have given you a short list below of some of my favorites to help get you started.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO SAY THEM

There are tons people who say it’s best to say things like affirmations to yourself in front of the mirror. But after trying this on the first day I instantly realized this wasn’t for me. It made me feel awkward and uncomfortable to do it and I knew if I kept it up I would stop saying them all together.

After a couple more weeks of different attempts, I finally found three ways that I am most comfortable saying these.

– Right after you wake up and are still in bed.

– Sitting quietly while meditating

– As you move around to get ready

That being said, these are just the places that work for me. One of my friends says them to herself on the drive into work. Another says them at night as he’s about to go to bed. One has even made a sort of song out of hers and sings it while she’s in the shower. It doesn’t really matter where you do it. As long as you are truly letting the message of your affirmations sink in you are doing it right.

My affirmations do change on a daily basis also depending on how I am feeling that day or what needs to get done. One day my list may be longer, the next it may be shorter. Each affirmation may be super wordy or they may barely be a full a sentence. Once again it doesn’t matter. As long as there’s intent behind the words, it will definitely help start your morning right.

THE AFFIRMATIONS

I believe in myself.

I will release the past feelings of yesterday and choose to live for today.

All problems and struggles of yesterday are gone, today is a new day and I am moving towards greatness.

I wake up today with my mind filled with positivity, my heart filled with love, and my soul at peace.

I am above negative thoughts and actions and will only attract positive people and the best circumstances.

Today, I will be filled with energy and have the courage to stand up for myself and others.

I approve of myself. I fully accept myself. I love myself. I am worthy.

Even if you have never tried saying affirmations before like me, I highly recommend it. Even saying only a few every morning before getting out of bed can really change the way you look at the world and your mood for the entire day. For those of who have done affirmations before, are there any ones you like? Leave a comment below with your favorite(s).
