LITTLE DROPS, LOTS OF JOY

As most of you know, I am absolutely obsessed with essential oils. If there is a way to use it in a product or make the product myself, I have most likely done it. From bug repellant to toothpaste to diffusing, essential oils are a part of my everyday life and have really taken over this past summer. But, as any of you who love essential oils also will know, when buying oils you usually end up having to decide which is the lesser of two evils. Either it is inexpensive but has a gross, thick, artificial smell about it. Or it has that clean purity to it but costs an arm and a leg. There is no winning!

And then there is the second trap that most of us fall into. After testing out so many gross oils and you finally find the king brand that you use all the time, you don’t really want to go back to testing out products again. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kind of mentality.

Fortunately enough, I was given the opportunity this past month to test out a fairly new brand of oils known as Aroma Foundry. At first, I had the same hesitation that many of you have probably experienced, but after reading the founders’ story and their goals I decided to give it a try.

Although Aroma Foundry is a relatively new brand, its message is quite clear. Not only do they promote 100% purity and all-natural oils, but they are completely transparent at what occurs in every step of the process in making the oils. The first area that they do this in is where they are getting their oils. Instead of outsourcing to a place that grows the plants for the oils in an inexpensive country or a factory, Aroma Foundry actually harvests all of their oils from plants being grown in their native country and culture. From the Netherlands to Morocco to right in Florida, Aroma Foundry is completely upfront about where every oil is being harvested. I never thought this would be something that mattered to me. But it is just one of those extra steps that Aroma Foundry takes to make a quality product and it really warmed my heart.

They are also upfront about their packaging. They tell you right on the Bottle, box, and website how each bottle is packaged right in California. They also state how each product is tested against their purity standards and because of this are made in small batches to ensure the quality is met. They even put a number right on top of the caps so you know which number in the batch you are getting. All of these aspects together made me really love the product before I even tried it because you could truly tell the amount of care that was going into each bottle.

Every brand under the sun seems to claim to be 100% pure nowadays. Even those oils on the grocery store end caps. Because of this, I wasn’t initially putting a lot of weight on this idea before I received them. For the oils themselves, I didn’t want to pick out any that I did not own, let only smelled. So I decided to pick out a few that I have in several different brands and at several different cost levels so I would have a solid range of where these oils would rank. The oils I picked also ranged in scents from more woodsy and rich scents to a lighter, fresh scent.

Bergamot

Citronella

Tea Tree

Ylang Ylang

All of these I own and obviously have tried before so I had a good idea of what a quality essential oil of each of these would smell like. And boy was I surprised when I first smelled these! They are spot-on with what each oil is supposed to smell like. But not only that, they also have this level of purity in the smell that I have only come to expect with my more expensive brands that can cost anywhere from ten to thirty dollars more than these did

I even went to some other people and had them smell each oil in comparison to the more expensive ones to see if I had completely lost my mind and was imagining that there was no difference. One of my friends even did a blind sniff test for where and she ended up guessing that the Aroma Foundry products were the more expensive ones. They truly keep to their promise of purity and you can tell as soon as you open the bottle.

After testing all of the oils, I could only really find two minor negatives about them. The first being that these oils are only meant to be used externally. Now I am not taking a shot of straight up oils on the daily, but I do like to add my oils to different products like toothpaste for both the taste as well as the added benefits the oil provides. It isn’t a huge necessity and these oils are still amazing for using topically and in diffusers. But like I said, I sometimes use them this way and it adds a bit more peace of mind, especially if there are younger children in the house who might get their hands on a bottle. But that can also be my own mentality messing with me.

The other negative was how fast these bottles pour. I have had my fair share of oils that are about a drop a minute. And I am all for speeding up how fast the drops come out. But this was a full on stream of oils. My entire house smelled very strongly of Citronella the first time I went to diffuse it. It is possible to get only a couple of drops out of these bottles, but it will take a lot more care and concentration than you may be use to. So if you are making a mixture that requires a specific number of drops, pay close attention while you pour.

Those two negatives aside, I really do love this brand. It has a great methodology behind the creation of each bottle. The oils reach the level of purity that I only ever expected from more expensive oils. And each little step that goes into getting the oil from plant to bottle to you is very well thought out and shows how much they care. I highly recommend these oils to anyone who is just starting out their essential oil journey or is looking for a more inexpensive way to try out more oils or substitute for your more expensive oils. I will definitely be sending in another order soon and seeing if every single one of their oils is as amazing as these first ones were.
