Jalsa

Tags: jalsa food tikka

Jalsa means enjoyment/ amusement and is definitely true to its name. A celebration of North Indian or Mughlai Cuisine through its decor and Food. Located in Outer Ring Road Marathahalli it is worth traveling the distance.

Food- Milk based mocktails are splendid and refreshing. Multani Paneer tikka was excellent. It was marinated well and was stuffed with cheese and green ‘chutney’. I loved the superb covering of the Bharwan Khumb which is mushrooms. Bhindi kurkure was appetising. It is batter fried ladies finger.  An ideal snack to start munching on while waiting for the other delicacies.

Khandari Chicken Tikka was incredible. It was perfectly grilled in ‘tandoor’ making it succulent, soft, also imparting flavour and spice that sink in right to the last bite. It’s their speciality and highly recommended. Impressive Presentation. Kalmi Kebab was fantastic and its ingredients excite the palate. Butter Chicken or Murg Makhani is outstanding. Dal Makhni is remarkable. Richness, Texture and Taste of both was exemplary.  Mutton Rogan Gosh is brilliant. It was cooked impeccably causing the delicate pieces of lamb to peel of the bone. Awadhi Style Murg Dum Biryani is quite decent. It has a tempting aroma of basmati rice emanating from it and tender meat soaked in its masala. Delightful desserts. My favourite is the Homemade Kulfi.

However Chilli Garlic Prawns were ordinary. Not very fresh. Mutton Sheek Kebab was nothing great can be improved. Taste was fine but it was rubbery.  (7/10)

Ambiance- Marvellous Mughal Architectural Palace Design. Beautiful wallpapers that gives a feeling of royalty. Spectacular chandeliers. Nice Colours. Elegant furniture. Amazing window carvings. Well spaced out and comfortable seating with cushions. It’s a little bit hot as air conditioning is not that effective. There is adequate Privacy because of individual private tables separated by screens. Exuberant Decoration. Quite and calm atmosphere. (7/10)

Service-  Average. Waiters are courteous and well trained. However service is slow. Dishes take a long time for preparation. Different plates for veg and non veg. Ample Parking available in the premises. Hospitality was top notch. Props such as turbans and swords are provided to take photos like a real king. (6/10)

Price- Moderately High. Mid Range. Neither too expensive nor too pocket friendly. There is value for money. A quintessential fine dining family restaurant. Wonderful experience overall. Will surely visit again. (6/10)
