Yat Lok 一樂燒鵝 | Are You Craving For Succulent Goose Meat?

Yat Lok 一樂燒鵝

As you know, roast Goose extinct in Singapore. I would always satisfy my craving for the luxurious Goose Meat on my visit to Hong Kong. And this time, I’ve tried Yat Lok on my first day in Hong Kong. The queue at Yat Lok was manageable on a weekday dinner. Yat Lok restaurant was on full house and we waited for a good 30-45 minutes along the narrow pathway. Thankfully, the weather is cooling at 12 degrees during the winter season. We were served with a plate of Yat Lok’s roasted pork and BBQ pork within 10 minutes after our order. Yat Lok’s roasted pork comes with very crispy skin, tender meat and seasoned with just the right amount of salt without being overly salty. Thick and glossy sweet glazed BBQ pork with tender lean meat. Yat Lok’s goose meat never disappoint, received a plate of goose meat with a good thick layer of fat under the light crisp skin. The texture and flavour of the meat beneath were tender and flavourful. Very satisfying indeed!

A plate of roasted pork and BBQ pork at HKD175 (~S$30.39).

Roasted goose (1/4 with drumstick) at HKD185 (~S$32.13).

Yat Lok restaurant full house as usual. You are required to share a table with other diners.

Yat Lok is featured on the Michelin Guide.

While writing this food review on Yat Lok, I’m craving for goose meat again. If you have been following on the food news closely, Singapore is considering to ease import rules and we might be able to buy cooked meat eg. goose meat from more countries eg. Hong Kong. Hooray!!! Hopefully, it will be passed soon. Currently, we can only import poultry, including cooked or processed food from 14 certified bird-flu-free territories eg. Argentina, Canada and New Zealand, but Hong Kong is currently not under this list.
