Amo | Not To Miss Mushrooms, Truffle, Mascarpone and Tuscan Pecorino Pizza!

Media Tasting at Amo

A new addition to the gastronomic stretch of Hong Kong Street, Amò is the latest brainchild of renowned chef Beppe De Vito of the ilLido Group, joining the ranks of &Sons, Braci and more. Short for “amore” (love in French), Amò seeks to unite people and Italian cuisine. Showcasing Italian’s best culinary influences in a beautiful open-concept kitchen setting, it is the perfect social spot for friends and family to gather over some good Italian dishes and drinks.

amo_crispy_calamari

Although the price might be slightly pricier, we were mesmerized by the Crispy Calamari with Sumac and Sundried Tomato Aioli. And mind you, this comment is from a person who is not a fan of calamari.  Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the calamari is an unalloyed delight perfected with a hint of seasoning.

Crispy Calamari with Sumac and Sundried Tomato Aioli at S$22.

amo_pizza_flatlay

We tried three different signature pizzas and unanimously, our favourite was the Mushrooms, Truffle, Mascarpone and Tuscan Pecorino. The doughy and thin crust pizza base was adorned a generous touch of truffle and earthy mushrooms paste and fresh mushrooms. Creamy and intense, it is hard to stop at one slice.

Mushrooms, Truffle, Mascarpone and Tuscan Pecorino at S$35.

amo_stracciatella-prosciutto-rucola-and-fig-vincotto

If you prefer tomato-based pizza, go for their Stracciatella, Prosciutto, Rucola and Fig Vincotto. The strong flavour of the prosciutto and the light-tasting Stracciatella (Italian buffalo milk cheese) blended harmoniously and does not disappoint.

Stracciatella, Prosciutto, Rucola and Fig Vincotto at S$29.

To keep things interesting, Amò serves weekly special drinks and mains that is off the regular menu. That night, their weekly special pizza was Homemade Nduja, Mascarpone, Charred Eggplant & Buffalo Mozzarella. In contrast, the special pizza was slightly lacklustre.

Homemade Nduja, Mascarpone, Charred Eggplant & Buffalo Mozzarella at S$32.

amo_lobster_pasta

The enormous portion of Spaghetti Chitarra with Boston Lobster and Tarragon itself justifies the high price point. One plate could easily feed 2 to 3 starving diners. The tomato-based spaghetti might have lacked depth, but its neutral taste kept the limelight on the huge whole lobster that is spread over the dish.

Spaghetti Chitarra with Boston Lobster and Tarrago at S$98 (serves two).

amo_tiramisu

Just when we thought the mains were good, their desserts were equally amazing. Packing a punch of strong coffee, their Tiramisu was spectacular. Soft layers of coffee-infused ladyfingers mascarpone and whipped cream, their tiramisu is to dream for. Velvety, decadent, and bursting with bold coffee flavours, we were glad that the portion was oversized because we can’t get enough of it.

Tiramisu at S$18.

Beautiful space, open-concept kitchen and bar, with a communal Italian dining concept. Amò is all set to be the next popular destination where people get together for some good times and food.
