Most of our ordered was served together, which should have made the quick decision making to choose what to give priority, quite easy, but it didn't. Most dishes, including the veggie ones (I know falafel is also veggie) were great. Courtesy our Tuesdays-veg friend, we got to taste some nice haloumi cheese and some zaatar manakesh, but this place, with a name like this was supposed to be about the falafels.
It almost was. I'll explain why, but our order of stuffed falafels gave us four giant falafels. Topped with sesame seeds and stuffed with onions and pine nuts, this was taking an already excellent dish and driving it to the next level. The balance of the stuffing was such that it didn't take away anything from the original falafel flavours.
The reason why this place wasn't about the falafel is because of the dessert. Nutella, a beautiful concoction of chocolate and hazelnut might be a dish on its own, and served in all possible combinations around the world, but OPERATION FALAFEL, doles out Pizzas smeared with Nutella and finishes it off with a healthy serving of nuts and bananas on top. It looks beautiful as it arrives on your table, but with almost no aroma emitting, you tend to question yourself – is this a real dish? Looking picture perfect, after your eyes have had a feast, your hands get ready for the real deal. Chocolate on a crispy yet chewy base, never tasted this good!
There is no reason to worry about the closing down of your go-go falafel shop. Operation Falafel more than makes up for it!
