Like it always (ok, not always, but....) happens, the gut was right. Just two dishes, a chicken kafta and a shawarma along with a date drink. Warm pita came complimentary. The drink, unlike the usual date milkshakes, was light and refreshing. Packed with flavours of the dates and enhanced with nuts of all kinds, the drink was a welcome after the day long work and a short trek.
The chicken shawarma was heart warming and a sense of relief for the foodie in me. Finally a good....let me rephrase that, finally a great shawarma in Dubai! Finally! I can die in pieces, I mean, in peace! With a wonderful balance between chicken, hummus and veggies, nothing was over powering, but the shawarma.
The chicken kafta that came in after the shawarma set high standards, didn't budge and even went on to set its own standard! Grilled succulent chicken, fresh off the skewers over a bed of warm pita and topped with a piece of spiced pita and some potato fries to add an element of carbs, the dish is a nice complete meal.
Both the dishes were priced at about AED 40 each. When I crave for shawarma in Dubai, I would go back here in a heartbeat.
There are many in Dubai, the one we went to is on Sheik Zayed Road, a few minutes walk from the Financial Centre metro station.
