If you think that Nasi Lemak Bumbung, Flying Wan Tan Mee, Nasi Lemak 223, Duck Rice is the hottest "thing" that ever exist within PJ area, think again... Because there's another hot spot that you have yet to unveil. I found out this hot spot where many named it as Nasi Lemak Kukus Chef Fauzy, located somewhere in the PJ Old Town area.
From my understanding and "quick" research on the net, Chef Fauzy is a senior-level hospitality chef for more than a decade in the past. Got bored of the hospitality routine and wanting to do something out of the box, he then decided to venture into food truck selling Nasi Lemak Kukus on his own. Leveraging on his culinary edge, reputation and network, he established the reputation of Nasi Lemak Kukus Chef Fauzy today. Somewhat, some addressed this as Nasi Lemak Goreng Chef Fauzy.
Business starts at 6.00 PM, yet long queue awaits before you. Personally experienced 30 minutes in queuing for the goodness. Oh by the way, the star celebrity Chef Fauzy does not hands-on anymore unless crowd starts to pile up by the roadside.
Anyway, the signature dish is basically where the santan rice is stir-fried using the fresh fried chicken oil. Then mixed with homemade sambal to give spicy taste and to emit fried-charred aroma. The fried rice is then served with freshly marinated fried chicken, big prawns and sambal at the side.
Priced at RM 8.00. Personally, the whole dish is absolutely sinful and oily - a calories surplus food. Nothing to shout about the special effort stir-fried rice. The prawn was the best highlight of the visit, rubbery hard as if chewing on a slipper. The fried chicken was the only thing that I enjoyed during that visit.
Summary
Good discovery of this place, get to know what's all the hype all about. Price was great according to the portion served but the taste and aroma was just mediocre. Queue was slightly unexpected long, embrace longer wait if the person in front of you place big orders.
