I'm a SCADMAN

 Good Morning everyone,

It has been a few years since I posted anything, and life goes so fast. For all of us, Covid really took a toll on traveling, eating out, and just enjoying life but being locked in your house for nearly a year was not great. Since covid a lot of Cafes and Restaurants that we enjoyed going to closed down permanently which was sad to see. We finally got covid in April and a few weeks after that I started getting a burning sensation in my chest which came and went regularly. I went to the Doctors and they thought it was asthma related but it wasn't as it turned out. I took up running last year and about a month ago i was on a run and my whole chest felt like it was on fire and my Heart exploded so i went back to work and finished the day. I went to the Doctor after work and they sent me to Hospital. I asked the junior doctor to check my blood as she was convinced it was gastro. They got my results and sent me straight to the new Heart Hospital at around 1am the following day. I had my blood checked every 2 hours to see the troponin levels  (normally between 0.04 and below 5). My levels got to over 8000 which suggested I could still be having a heart attack. Later on that day they wanted to do an Angiogram ( sticking a tube up my vein in my arm into my heart to check what damage was done). While they were in my heart they could see all the damage that had happened the the aorta and I had no cholesterol there. The cardiologist could see a long tear in the aorta and advised i needed a stent to try and patch up the tear which is called Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) . I was watching the whole operation on the screen next to me which was interesting. I was in hospital for a week and was released. They day i was released i had more chest pains so i was sent back to hospital and spend another 3 days in hospital. Since then i have been in and out of hospital and trying to get used to all the medications. So far we are all coping with the life changes and i should be going back to work in a week.

Here is an image of what SCAD is.
