How To Make The Perfect Healthier Roast Potatoes in an Air Fryer

*This post contains a gifted product, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own*

I've said it before and will keep saying it until the end of time, Roast Potatoes are the star of any roast dinner. In fact, they should be enjoyed with as many meals as possible, in my opinion.

I can make an AMAZING Roast potato in the oven, but it often requires a copious amount of oil. If you are trying to eat healthier, these are unfortunately not for you.

I have created lower-calorie versions, but they still require a lot of effort and take a long time to roast in the oven. That's where the trustee Air Fryer comes into play.

If you don't already have an Air Fryer, I can wholeheartedly say that they are one of the best kitchen gadgets that you can invest in.

Gone are the days when Air Fryers are good for chips and nothing else, they are now so versatile that you can even bake cakes in them.

They are perfect for healthier cooking and heat food evenly and quickly, saving you so much time and effort when cooking.

Not only that, but in the current cost of living crisis, they are much more energy efficient than using a regular oven to prepare food.

I was kindly gifted this NINJA Foodi Dual Zone 7.6L Air Fryer by Very, who have an amazing range of Air Fryers. I couldn't wait to get creating some delicious dishes. It has 6 ways to cook - Max Crisp, Roast, Bake, Reheat, Dehydrate and the classic Air Fry.

It has 2 trays that you can use independently or together, and each basket holds up to 1KG of chips.

How To Make The Perfect Healthier Roast Potatoes in an Air Fryer

If you want to make a healthier roast potato with the LEAST effort possible, then this is the recipe for you.

The main secret of making the roasties is to add seasoning and a little oil to the potato before you add it to the Air Fryer.

Another tip is that you don't actually need to parboil the potatoes before you add them in to the Air Fryer! This helps save even more time and energy.

Roast Potato Ingredients:

500g Potatoes (I like to use Maris Piper or Red Potatoes)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
large pinch of sea salt & pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil

Roast Potato Method:

Peel the potatoes and cut them into roast potato shapes, usually into quarters

In a bowl, add the potatoes, garlic and onion powder, and sprinkle a generous amount of sea salt and black pepper.

Add the olive oil and mix well until the potatoes are evenly coated.

Add the potatoes to your Air Fryer tray, and either select the roast function for 15 minutes or 190C for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, remove the tray and give the potatoes a shake.

Cook at 200C for a further 15 minutes, shaking them up halfway through, and cook until the potatoes are golden and crispy.

They come out so perfectly fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside, and are guilt-free as you have used hardly any oil!

You would never even be able to tell that they have been made using so little oil.

As they are so easy, quick and effortless to prepare you can have roast potatoes with as many meals as you like, even during the week when you least feel like cooking!
