Review: Bill's Restaurant, Exeter

Located in the heart of Exeter City Centre, Bill's Restaurant has been serving up breakfast, lunch, afternoon teas and dinners for years. Both impressive yet intimate, the newly refurbished restaurant is packed full of colour and charm.

The first Bill's restaurant opened in 2000, and now there are locations all over the country, including Exeter and Bristol.

Check out some of my other dining out reviews.

The new design sees luxurious velvet seating and some stunning chandelier centre pieces. We  were recently invited to review their food and see the new surroundings for ourselves.

We kicked off our meal with a gin and tonic, and soaked up the atmosphere. The inside is full of detail, and has multiple booths as well as your normal table and chairs.

The outside has every Instergrammers dream, a gorgeous flower wall.

For a starter we decided to share some Fried Halloumi sticks. They are one of my favourite treats, and if I see them on a menu, I just have to give them a go!

These fried halloumi sticks fries were crispy, squeaky, and cooked perfectly! Served on a bed of salad and with a zesty Bill's Chutney, that was so tasty we even asked if they sold it by the jay (they didn't have any any, and I was sad.) It was a good portion size, and although it was a portion for 1, there was enough for us to share as a light bite.

My boyfriend went for a classic steak, egg and chips. The steak was cooked to his liking, with a delicious runny egg on top. The skin on fries were crispy and crunchy, without being overly greasy.

My boyfriend really enjoyed his steak, so it's a big thumbs up from him!

When going out to dinner, I do like to treat myself! I went for a Mac & Cheese with crispy bacon bits on top, which came with salad and garlic bread. It was heaven in a bowl, with a gooey and cheesy sauce balanced with crispy, smoky bacon.

We finished off with a apple crumble. What I loved about this was that the custard was on the side, there was plenty of it, and it also came with ice cream. I love the combination of hot and cold, especially as a dessert!

The restaurant as a whole as a really nice vibe, that makes you feel at home and instantly relaxed. It is a really great place to sit and chill over some delicious food and drinks.

Food ***** Service ***** Atmosphere *****
