Five-Star Glamping at Dundas Castle | Edinburgh

After a successful first season, luxury Edinburgh venue, Dundas Castle and its partner Glampotel is doubling the number of their luxurious glamping units with the addition of environmentally friendly facilities, offering the perfect mini-experience for couples and families.

Edinburgh Glamping

This spring, Dundas Castle is reopening the glamping site along the loch and doubling its size from five canvas cottages to ten. Each Canvas Cottage will be upgraded with the addition of propane powered fridges for an even more comfortable stay.

Eco-friendly Canvas Cottages

Glampotel’s Canvas Cottages are completely off-the-grid and eco-friendly through the use of propane gas, solar lighting, biodegradable products and sustainable and recyclable materials. To further confirm its green credentials, Dundas Castle is offering guests the opportunity to take part in its Plant a Tree Program and contribute to the estate’s ecosystem.

Five-Star Glamping

With prices starting at £159 per night, each five-star Canvas Cottage contains a comfy king size bed complete with Egyptian cotton bedding, soft pillows and a cosy duvet.

The Canvas Cottages also include a fully equipped kitchen cupboard, en-suite shower room with hot and cold running water, toiletries and composting toilets, wood burning stoves with a supply of logs for warmth and cooking inside, barbecues, USB ports for charging devices, towels, lighting, patio heaters, comfy seating and a lockable safe box.

Glamping Beside Dundas Estate Loch

Set on the shores of the private Dundas Estate loch, glamping at Dundas is set in beautiful Scottish countryside on the 400 acre estate, yet guests can also visit Edinburgh’s fantastic attractions, only a short journey away. Glampotel at Dundas offers a unique combination of adventure and comfort, city and country, while satisfying both children and adults!

Owner of Dundas Castle, Sir Jack Stewart-Clark comments:

“We are very proud of the glamping facilities on the loch and we are so pleased to be able to deliver on our promise to add more cottages this year. Glamping was so popular last year – we are confident with the expansion and superb new facilities that we will see a record number of guests visit the estate in 2017.”

Owner of Glampotel, Paul Woolnough added:

“We are very proud of our partnership with Sir Jack and Dundas Castle, and this expansion is a result of an amazing collaboration with Dundas Castle, as well as the ever increasing demand in experiential glamping experiences.”

Our Stay at the Glampotel

We love camping and can’t wait to set out on some more adventures this year. It’s great to get away and cut yourself off from a busy city life, cooking simple food on a gas burning stove and toasting marshmallows over an open fire. Absolute bliss.

You know what else is good? Comfy beds, wood burning stoves and hot running water.

Glampotel at Dundas Castle combines the best parts of a hotel with all the fun of a camping trip. Best of all, you won’t need to pitch up or, more importantly, take down a tent!

We had the pleasure of staying at Dundas Castle’s Glamping site and we had the most relaxing Saturday evening for quite some time. It didn’t take long to get settled in, especially with a welcome hamper of bread, jam, bacon, eggs and apple juice.

We fired up the BBQ, opened a bottle of wine and revelled in the tranquillity of our surroundings. As it began to get dark we lit the wood burning stove inside the tent, zipped up the outside world and relaxed on one of the comfiest beds. We can’t cut off completely from technology, so we settled down with a movie on the iPad – Captain Fantastic, which given its focus on nature was a perfect choice.

We woke to the sounds of birdsong and a gentle glow of light from the morning sun. The delicious breakfast goodies didn’t last long and before we knew it we were back in Edinburgh.

It’s great to know the Glampotel is so close by, we’ll definitely be back to recharge our batteries (solar powered obviously).

After one night you only just about get settled in and into a routine, we’d recommend staying for two nights if you can.
