You ever just wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

Tags: mood music sleep

You know those mornings when you roll over and just don’t want to get out of bed, you’re grumpy and in the worst mood? We all have those days, some more than others but they definitely happen. There can be reasons for why they are happening or it can just be the day. Whatever the reason is you usually have to get out of bed and get on with your day even though you don’t want to. If you are having a bad start to the day usually the rest of the day will be bad…if you let it. Here are things I like to do when I wake up on the wrong side of the bed.

Take a Breath

You don’t have to do mediation or breathwork if you don’t have time for it but just taking a few deep breaths can help calm yourself down so you can figure out where to start. Just lay there in bed close your eyes and breath (don’t fall back to Sleep lol). After you have done that you can get out of bed and start with your day. Just remember to keep taking little breaks in the day to breathe. This allows you to check-in with yourself and slows you down!!

Distract Yourself

I know for myself if I am in a terrible mood I will dwell on it for hours and just make my mood worse. In order to not overthink about it, I have to distract myself. I hate to say go on your phone in the morning because it’s not the best for you but sometimes you just need it. If you are more in a rush put on some Music or a tv show and just have it play in the background. This gives you something to focus on so you are not so much in your head. Also maybe the video will help boost your mood.

Listen to Music

There are tons of playlists on Spotify and YouTube with stress-free music. This music is very slow and calm which helps to make you feel calmer. As you start to become calm you can start to change the music to a mood-boosting playlists. Once you have that mood-boosting music on maybe dance a little!! I know dancing puts me in a better mood why don’t you give it a try? Music has such power over your emotions and it may be what you need to put you in a better mood.

Go for a walk

Getting outside of your house and into nature is a great mood booster. Breathing in the fresh air, and getting your body moving helps to boost your happy hormones and just put you in a better mindset. When you are walking just try to be in that moment! Don’t think about what you have to do, just think about all the good you have in your life. By thinking about the positive in your life you can help shift your mindset to be happier.

Read a Book

Getting lost in a book is a great way to distract yourself. You don’t have to read a whole book but even a couple of pages, while you are drinking your morning coffee, is more effective at reducing stress then scrolling through Instagram. An article by the World Literacy Foundation talks about a study that states reading can reduce stress by 68% (Link). If you have nothing to read my blog is always available *wink* *wink*!

Finally, if all else fails just go back to sleep. You may have not gotten enough sleep the night before and your body is craving some more. If you have the time and opportunity to take advantage of it, no one is judging we all sleep until noon sometimes!! Just make sure you are listening to your body and doing what makes it feel better.

Leave me a comment of something you do to improve your mood, I want to give it a try!

Hope you have a lovely day!

XoXo,

Katelynn
