Recipe Tips and FAQs:

Do I have to use agave for this cucumber lemonade drink?

No, you don’t have to use agave. You can use other sweeteners of your choice, such as honey, maple syrup, or even granulated sugar, depending on your taste preferences and dietary needs. Just adjust the amount to achieve your desired level of sweetness.

Does cucumber mint lemonade detox your body?

Cucumber lemonade is often considered a refreshing and hydrating drink that may contribute to a sense of detoxification due to its high water content, antioxidants from cucumbers, and vitamin C from lemons. While cucumbers might have mild diuretic properties and lemons could support digestion and immune function, it’s important to remember that the idea of “detoxing” through specific foods or drinks is a simplified concept. The body has its own natural detoxification processes primarily managed by the liver and kidneys. Incorporating cucumber lemonade into a balanced diet can be a healthful choice, but it’s not a miraculous detox solution. For personalized health advice, it’s recommended to consult a healthcare professional.

My cucumber mint lemonade tastes sour, what should I do?

To reduce sourness in your cucumber Mint Lemonade, add more agave syrup (or a sweetener of your choice) or water gradually. Adjust to taste, experimenting with sweetness levels until balanced to your liking.

What spirits could I add to this recipe to give it an adult twist?

To give your Cucumber Mint Lemonade an adult twist, you can add spirits that complement the refreshing flavors of cucumber and lemon. Here are a few options:

  • Vodka: Blend seamlessly, adding 1-2 oz. per serving. (I really enjoy Effen Cucumber Vodka for this recipe)
  • Gin: Herbaceous match, try 1-2 oz. per serving.
  • White Rum: Subtle sweetness, 1-2 oz. per serving.
  • Tequila: Earthy kick, 1-2 oz. per serving.
  • Cucumber-Infused Spirits: Unique flavor, infuse cucumber slices.
  • Elderflower Liqueur: Floral touch, ½-1 oz. per serving.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 small cucumbers peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed (about 4-6 lemons)
  • 1/2 cup agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • ice cubes
  • fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
  • lemon or cucumber slices (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • In a blender or food processor, blend the cucumber slices until smooth. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your blender. Add 1/2-1 cup of the cold water to help it blend if needed.
    1-2 small cucumbers
  • Place a fine-mesh strainer over a pitcher. Pour the cucumber puree into the strainer and use a spoon to gently press down and extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp or save it for other recipes.
  • In the pitcher, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and agave syrup. Stir well to combine.
1 cup lemon juice, 1/2 cup agave syrup
  • Add cold water to the cucumber-lemon mixture and stir to blend thoroughly. Taste and adjust the sweetness by adding more agave (or sweetener of choice) if desired.
    4 cups cold water
  • Refrigerate the cucumber lemonade for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the drink to chill.
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the chilled cucumber lemonade over the ice.
  • Optionally, garnish each glass with a sprig of fresh mint and a slice of lemon or cucumber. Serve the cucumber lemonade immediately and enjoy its refreshing and revitalizing taste!
fresh mint leaves, lemon or cucumber slices

Notes

A smoothie blender works great for blending the cucumbers completely leaving you with minimal to no pulp. Its a good option if you have one.
If you prefer a smoother texture, you can strain the cucumber juice through a fine-mesh strainer once more before mixing it with the lemon juice and agave.
Adjust the amount of agave syrup based on your personal taste preference. You can start with 1/4 cup and gradually add more until the desired level of sweetness is achieved.
For an extra twist, you can add a splash of sparkling water to each glass just before serving for a fizzy cucumber lemonade.
Feel free to get creative with your garnishes. Slices of cucumber or lemon wheels can also be used to decorate the glasses.
