Creamy Paneer Chana Masala Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Coriander seeds 1/2 tbs
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 tbs
  • Black peppercorns 1/2 tsp
  • Green cardamom 2
  • Carom seeds 1/4 tsp
  • Cloves 2
  • Mace 1 piece
  • Cinnamon stick 1
  • Kashmiri red chilies 2
  • Cottage cheese 300g
  • Cooking oil 1/4 Cup
  • Onion paste 1 Cup
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tbs
  • Tomato puree 1 Cup
  • Salt 1 & 1/2 tsp or to taste
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp or to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Water 1/2 Cup or as required
  • Chickpeas (canned or boiled) 1 & 1/2 Cup
  • Fresh cream 1/2 cup 
  • Milk 1/2 cup 
  • Green chilies 3-4
  • Fresh coriander chopped

Directions:

In a frying pan, add coriander seeds, cumin seeds, black peppercorns, green cardamom, carom seeds, cloves, mace, cinnamon stick, Kashmiri red chilies & dry roast on medium flame until fragrant (1-2 minutes). Let it cool. In spice mixer, add roasted spices, grind to make powder & set aside. 

Now cut cottage cheese into small cubes & set aside. In a pot, add cooking oil, cottage cheese & fry on medium flame until light golden & set aside. 

Then in the same pan, add cooking oil, onion paste & cook on medium flame for 3-4 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste, tomato puree, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ground spices, mix well & cook for 2-3 minutes. Lower the heat and then add fresh cream & mix well, cover & cook on medium flame for 4-5 minutes. Add boiled chickpeas gently stir to coat them with the creamy sauce. Now pour in the milk and allow the mixture to simmer for 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens. Add fried cottage cheese cubes & mix gently. 

And lastly, add green chilies, fresh coriander, cover & cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes & serve this creamy and aromatic Paneer Chana Masala with steamed rice, naan, or roti. Enjoy the explosion of flavors!
