 Homemade Zinger Burger Recipe – Recreating KFC's best burger

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Fillet:

  • 2 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil

For Assembling:

  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced onions
  • Mayonnaise
  • Hot sauce (optional)
  • Cheese slices (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:

    • In a bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
    • Add the chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated.
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the Coating:

    • In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper to create the coating mixture.
  3. Coat the Chicken:

    • Remove the marinated chicken from the fridge and let it come to room temperature.
    • Dredge each chicken breast in the coating mixture, pressing the mixture onto the chicken to create a thick coating.
  4. Fry the Chicken:

    • In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to around 350°F (175°C).
    • Carefully place the coated chicken breasts into the hot oil and fry for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until the coating is golden brown and the chicken is cooked through.
    • Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

    • Place a lettuce leaf on top of the mayo.
