Zara McDermott is set to become the first ever Love Island contestant to appear on Strictly Come Dancing. The 26-year-old reality star will be joining the lineup for the 2023 series, which is due to start in September.
McDermott rose to fame in 2018 when she appeared on the fifth season of Love Island. She coupled up with Adam Collard, but they were eventually dumped from the villa. Since then, McDermott has gone on to present her own BBC Three documentary, Revenge Porn: My Story, and she has also appeared on The X Factor: Celebrity.
In a statement, McDermott said that she was excited to be joining Strictly Come Dancing. I'm a massive fan of the show and I can't wait to get started, she said. I'm nervous about learning the dances, but I'm up for the challenge.
McDermott's signing is a major coup for Strictly Come Dancing, as it is the first time that a Love Island Contestant has ever appeared on the show. It is likely to boost the show's ratings, as Love Island is one of the most popular reality TV shows in the UK.
The 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing will be hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The judges will be Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke. The show is due to start on BBC One on September 18th.
