About this recipe

Mango lassi is just a variation of the traditional lassi. Originating from India, this sweet and tangy drink is made by blending ripe mangoes with yogurt, milk, and sugar. It’s the perfect drink to enjoy during the warmer months and is sure to leave you feeling refreshed and energized.

This delicious lassi is easy to make at home with just a few simple ingredients. All you need is ripe mangoes, plain yogurt, milk, and sugar. Simply blend the ingredients together until smooth and creamy, and you’ll have a delicious and refreshing drink in no time.

One of the great things about mango lassi is its versatility. You can add other ingredients to the basic recipe to create your own unique flavor. For example, I like to add a pinch of cardamom powder and saffron to this lassi for an extra kick of flavor. Others may prefer to add rosewater or honey for a touch of sweetness.

Mango lassi is also a great drink to serve at parties or gatherings. Its vibrant color and delicious taste are sure to impress your guests.

Yogurt or Homemade Curd: What to Use for Making Mango Lassi?

Both yogurt and homemade curd can be used to make mango lassi. In fact, traditionally, homemade curd is often used in India to make lassi drinks. However, in modern times, yogurt has become a more popular option as it is easily available in supermarkets and has a consistent texture and taste.

If you prefer to use homemade curd for your mango lassi, ensure that it is fresh and not too sour. If the curd is too sour, it can overpower the sweetness of the mangoes and make the drink unappetizing.

On the other hand, if you choose to use yogurt, it is recommended to use plain, unsweetened yogurt to avoid overpowering the sweetness of the mangoes. Greek yogurt can also be used for a thicker consistency but may require more milk to achieve a drinkable consistency.

Ultimately, the choice between using homemade curd or yogurt for mango lassi is a matter of personal preference. Both options can be delicious and can provide a unique flavor and texture to the drink.
