Ingredients

Meatballs

• 1 lb ground beef
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 large egg
• Salt and pepper, to taste

Sauce

• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 small onion, finely chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
• 1 tsp dried basil
• 1 tsp dried oregano
• Salt and pepper, to taste

Pasta

• 12 oz spaghetti
• Salt, for boiling water

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
2. Shape the meat mixture into small meatballs, approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Transfer the meatballs to a plate and set aside.
4. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then add the meatballs back into the sauce. Cover and cook for 25-30 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
6. While the sauce is simmering, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
7. To serve, place a portion of spaghetti on a plate, top with meatballs and sauce, and sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese if desired.
