Amitabh And Jaya’s first meeting

Jaya Bhaduri and Amitabh Bachchan first met at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Jaya was a star back then, flourishing well in her career. But Amitabh was still a struggling actor. Though Jaya didn’t know Amitabh personally back then, she always trusted that he’d make it big someday.

The official meet

Though Jaya and Amitabh had seen each other a few times before, they didn’t meet each other officially. They officially met on the sets of Guddi, by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Though Amitabh did like Jaya, since the time he saw her picture in a magazine. Little by little Jaya, also started falling in love with Amitabh. In an interview with DNA Jaya Bachchan said,

“I was introduced to him on the sets of Guddi. I was impressed by him and somewhat in awe as he was Harivanshrai Bachchan’s son. I felt he was different, though people laughed at me when I said that. I expressed my feelings and said he’s going to make it big, even though I was aware he wasn’t the usual stereotype hero. I fell in love with him very soon.”

Falling In Love

Fun fact, it wasn’t Amitabh who fell for Jaya first. But the exact opposite, Jaya fell in love with the angry young man first. Gradually Amitabh found himself falling in love with Jaya as well, in the sets of Ek Nazar though.

When this got disclosed, Jaya’s friend, Rajesh Khanna did not like the relationship. He was completely against it, but it was too late anyway. Because Jaya was too in love with Amitabh by then anyway.

The Marriage

Amitabh had a plan to go to London with his friends if his film, Zanjeer did well in the box office. Apparently, his film was a great hit, he wanted to bring Jaya along with him to London. But, Jaya’s parents didn’t allow that, before they got married. That’s when Amitabh proposed to Jaya and she accepted immediately.

They got married in a very low-key manner, only selective people were invited. They left for London, the day they got married itself.

New Family

After getting married on June 3, 1973, Jaya decided to give her attention to her family and house. Though she was doing very well when it came to her career at that point. She decided to give more emphasis to her newly formed family. Soon they became parents to Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan.

Hurdles in their love life

No relationship can work without having and facing the “tower moment.” Just like that, being a part of the Bollywood community, a lot of rumors spread out. The rumors were mainly about Amitabh dating Rakhi, Parbeen Babi, and Zeenat Aman. These started spreading out after a few years of his marriage. But Jaya said in an interview,

“I totally trust my husband. I have never been threatened or felt insecure about anything he did.”

The rumors about Amitabh’s affair with Rekha were pretty influential. It more as it happened because they were the power-on-screen couple at that moment. People used to love their on-screen moments. Which lead to the rumors.

Since it’s Bollywood, it didn’t take much time to spread like a rapid-fire. But Rekha did mention that working with Amitabh was much more difficult for her than any other actor. Since he was a senior to her and much more experience.

It’s been years of controversy, We still don’t know what the truth is but,  do we need to anymore though? Both of them are living their own happy and settled life. Let’s just, let them.

Family Life

On every anniversary, all of us, eagerly wait for the evergreen couple to post some beautiful pictures from their wedding album. Some time ago, we did see a picture of Jaya in her beautiful red saree and Bachchan, the tall, young, handsome gentleman in his cream-colored sherwani. Jaya revealed that she lovingly calls Amitabh, “Lambuji.” Later their daughter, Shweta, also started to call her father with the same name.

Just like that, it is clearly proved that the couple is an evergreen couple. They clearly made their way to be on the list of the long-lasting Bollywood couples. It has been more than 40 years of their marriage, and we do hope for more of it. Cause obviously who wouldn’t want to look up to them when it comes to our personal love story?
