There are no traditional Chinese elements, such as lanterns or round tables, in the Majestic restaurant. According to Richard, the only thing that makes it “Chinese” are the lattice divisions. Anthony elaborates by saying that the kitchen is state-of-the-art, the cooks and chefs are experts, and the wait staff has received extensive training to guarantee that every customer is satisfied.
Among the menu items that have remained popular throughout the years are the following: Pancit canton, lumpia shanghai, soup from the bird’s nest, buttered chicken, sweet and sour pork, chowpatchin, patatim, beef with broccoli, shrimp and bacon rolls, and Majestic fried rice and chicken.

Majestic Restaurant opened its doors in the 1950s on Colon Street in Cebu City. Anthony Chang states that a group of Chinese cooks founded the restaurant. After their departure, the Changs assumed control. Regrettably, the Colon location burned down. It was when Winglip, a second-generation Chang, took control and relocated it to Gen. Maxilom Ave. in the Belvic (theater) building around the mid-80s.
One generation of Changs precedes Anthony. They had been employees of Majestic Restaurant for some time, similar to his relative Richard C. Li, but they only became full-time managers approximately four years ago. Richard is the director of administration, and Anthony is the management director.
