Café Laguna’s main attraction is its authentic Filipino cuisine. This restaurant, with locations throughout the islands of Visayas and Mindanao, has earned its reputation as a top choice for Filipino food lovers.
They’ve been around for 30 years, and that’s because they never stop making people’s favorite dishes like bulalo, sisig, and sapin-sapin. Despite the name, most of its locations are on the island of Cebu, with others in Dumaguete and General Santos City.

Café Laguna History
In the beginning, Café Laguna was a labour of love. Born into a family of chefs, Lita Urbina opened her first restaurant in 1991 to introduce the world to genuine Filipino cuisine. With the support of her loved ones, she cooked delicious, hearty meals from scratch, the likes of which brought back fond memories of her mother’s kitchen and the many hours spent feasting there as a youngster.
Despite its inconspicuous location in Lahug, Cebu City, Café Laguna became an instant hit with locals and visitors alike soon after it opened in 1991. Café Laguna, which started as a little restaurant more than 30 years ago, is now a household name associated with delicious Filipino cuisine and friendly service. It is ideal for meeting with old friends, hosting family gatherings, and celebrating special occasions.
Signature Dishes
Puto bumbong
Filipino purple rice cakes called “puto bumbong” are traditionally steamed in bamboo tubes. The holiday season is prime time for sales. Specifically, this is a puto.
Beef kare-kare with bagoong
The Philippine dish kare-kare is known for its rich, flavorful peanut sauce. Common ingredients include oxtail, beef tripe, pork hocks, calf’s feet, pig’s feet or trotters, assorted pork chops, beef stew meat, and even offal.
Fresh lumpia
Fresh Lumpia is produced by wrapping stir-fried vegetables, primarily cabbage, in a lumpia wrapper and topping it with sauce. Fresh lumpia’s major proteins include pork and shrimp; however, unlike hoisin sauce, which is pleasantly sweet and powerfully flavoured, fresh lumpia sauce is predominantly sweet with garlic undertones.
