Yaki Udon Dish

Ingredients 



Udon noodles: thick, chewy wheat noodles used in Japanese cuisine

Sauce: a mixture of soy sauce, mirin (sweet rice wine), sake (Japanese rice wine), and sometimes sugar or dashi (Japanese stock)


Garlic and ginger: grated or minced to add flavour to the dish


Vegetable oil: used for stir-frying the ingredients


Green onions and sesame seeds: for garnish and added flavour.


Meat or seafood: sliced beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, squid, or other seafood can be used.


Vegetables: onions, carrots, cabbage, bean sprouts, mushrooms, bell peppers, or any other vegetables of your choice can be added.

Directions



1. Cook the udon noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent them from sticking together.


2. Cut the meat or seafood into thin slices and chop the vegetables into bite-sized pieces.


3. Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add some oil and swirl to coat the pan.


4. Add the meat or seafood to the pan and stir-fry until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.





5. Add more oil to the pan if necessary and stir-fry the vegetables until they are tender-crisp.


6. Add the cooked noodles and the cooked meat or seafood back to the pan and stir-fry everything together for a few minutes.


7. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar to make the sauce.


8. Pour the sauce over the noodles and stir-fry everything together until the sauce is evenly distributed and the noodles are hot.


9. Serve the Yaki Udon hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
