Best Recipe for Pav Bhaji (Mumbai Street Style)

Pav bhaji is a famous road food dish from Mumbai, India. It is a spicy vegetable curry presented with a delicate bread roll called pav. Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp pav bhaji masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 8 pav rolls
  • Chopped cilantro and lemon wedges, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Boil the mixed vegetables in a pot until they are soft. Drain and mash them with a potato masher.

2. Heat the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle.

3. Add the onions and sauté until they are translucent. Add the garlic and ginger and sauté for another minute.

Add the tomatoes and sauté until they are soft and pulpy.

Add the mashed vegetables, red chili powder, pav bhaji masala, and salt to the pan and mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes.

Add a cup of water and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

Toast the pav rolls and serve with the bhaji. Garnish with cilantro and lemon wedges.

You can also make it more healthy by adding more vegetables and less butter.
