🍍What is a Pineapple Slushie?

A Pineapple Slushie is a type of frozen drink made from blending crushed ice and pineapple juice with frozen pieces.

Sometimes pineapple syrup is used instead of actual fruit pieces.

It has a smooth and slushy texture and is served as a refreshing, sweet, and fruity beverage on a hot day.

It can also be referred to as a pineapple slush or a pineapple icey.

This recipe is all natural (keeping in line with post cleansing read about my 369 Advanced Medical Medium Cleanse review)

🍍Ingredients You’ll Need

Notes on some of the ingredients, the full list of ingredients and their measurements can be found in the recipe card below.

Frozen pineapple chunks you can either buy these from your supermarket or cut up a fresh pineapple into chunks without the skin and freeze overnight. If you’re cutting the pineapple yourself, cut them into small chunks for easier blending.

When selecting a fresh pineapple, make sure it is free from bruising (no super soft parts), overall the body should be firm to touch with a little squish. The tops should be lush and green and not wilted.

Pineapple juice either store bought or freshly squeezed. I tend to juice my own from the remaining core and some of the flesh. Which I store for a couple of days in the fridge.

Maple syrup to sweeten, you can add as much as you like.

Vanilla extract for a boost in flavoring. You can also use a vanilla pod.

Small Ice cubes are ideal as they are easier to blend.

Tip: You can also add more ice to make it more icey, more sorbet like. Try adding another half cup.

🍍 How to Make Pineapple Slushie

Step 1 - In a high powered blender, I love using my Ninja blender (affiliate link), add all the ingredients and blend until crushed and smooth.

On the Ninja blender, there is a frozen drink setting, which blends for 1 minute and is a combination of pulsing and blending. Ideally, there should be no large chunks of ice.

After about 1 minute, the beverage color should be a pale yellow and look creamy.

Step 2 - Pour into a chilled glass, give it a stir and serve immediately.

Tip: stirring just before serving helps to bring the juice and slush together, as there is some slight separation.

Serving in a chilled glass helps to keep this slushie cold for longer.

🌱Variations

Rather than vanilla, fresh mint or basil leaves can be used. Only a couple are needed. The green flecks are pretty to look at.

If you like coconut with pineapple, try adding a tablespoon of coconut cream or a couple of drops of coconut extract.

FAQ

What type of blender is best to make a slush?

A high powered blender, preferably with an ice crushing or frozen drink function. These functions typically are a combination of pulsing and blending.

How to freeze pineapple?

Cut the pineapple top off and slice off the skin. Cut out any remaining spikes. Cut the pineapple in half lengthways and then cut again so that it is quartered. Proceed to cut into small chunks. Line a tray with baking paper or a silicone mat and place the chunks onto the tray ensuring none are overlapping. Place the tray in the freezer and allow chunks to freeze (overnight). Once frozen, place the chunks into a snap lock bag and keep in the freezer for up to 6 months. Use as needed.
