Recipe FAQs

How To Store Popsicles Once taken out of the mold?

Although it is easier to keep the popsicles stored in the mold itself, if taken out, they can be wrapped in plastic wrap or beeswax paper individually. After covering the popsicles, they can be stored in an air-tight container or zip-lock bag in the freezer.

How long can I keep these ice-popsicles in the freezer?

Although you'll find them too yummy to be kept around for so long, they can be left frozen for 1-2 months. They won't go bad, but the texture might change and accumulate frost if they're in the freezer for too long.

Is homemade popsicles suitable for kids?

This recipe is much more suitable than the store-bought popsicles filled with preservatives, false colors, and refined sugar. The more natural the sugar, the lesser the chances of children developing cavities. However, we do recommend using fresher ingredients for a healthier alternative.

The mangoes I'm using don't taste good. Can the ice-popsicles still turn out flavorful?

Of course, they can. While the mangoes can still help provide the flavor, you can tweak the recipe to make it worthwhile. For example, you can add in more maple syrup if the mangoes are a bit sour or some lime juice if they are too sweet and you'd like to add some tanginess. It's totally up to you how you'd like to modify the recipe according to the availability of ingredients you have at home.

Who invented the popsicle?

What is now sold in countless stores, with innumerable packaging and brands, was initially invented by Frank Epperson of San Francisco, California. Although the popsicles probably have a dozen other origins, this is the most famous one we know of.
